Torticollis is also known as wry neck. Here is the website for the

torticollis kids website www.torticolliskids.org. It should explain

torticollis pretty well. A helmet will not treat torticollis. It

needs to be treated with Physical Thereapy among other things. If

you have anymore questions please let me know. There is also

another group for torticollis.

Dear Tamil,

Yes Tummy time is good because the baby is off the flat spot. However, it will

not fix the

flat spot. She needs to be on the rounded side at night so that the growth will

fill out the

flat spot. Follow the repositioning tips you got from your last enquiry about

repo. Also, I

think the pinning of the small cushion or fabric roll to the back of your baby's

pajamas

would work well. Put it on the back of her shoulder on the side where her head

is flat

(right side?).

The exercises for her torticollis are important.

My daughter has tort and we do the exercises given to us by our physical

therapist.

You must stretch her chin over her left shoulder (if that is the stiffer side).

She may cry

and fight. Try to distract her with a noisy toy or something else she likes

alot. Have

someone else hold the toy to her left so she has to stretch there to see it,

then hold her

shoulders straight, and turn her head fully with your other hand. Do not

persist if she is

fighting you, but let go, take a break, and try again. If you persist when she

fights, you

only make her stronger in the wrong direction! If you would like to see

pictures of this, let

me know, I will send them to you directly.
