Guest guest
I had an artist paint both of my son's bands and I just Modge Podge his band pretty frequently. He tends to be rashy, so every once in awhile I leave him out of the band more than the hour to give his skin a break and to give it a few good coats. It is getting a little dinged up, but it slows down the peeling around the edges. I think the artist might have lightly sanded the outside plastic shell to make the paint stick better, also. It is a DOC band. Guest guest
We had my daughters helmet done by a professional artist in town a few months ago. What they did is take baby fine sand paper and you sand the helmet just enough it make it not so slick. Then you prime it, then paint it and then you seal it a few times and let it dry very good. We had such good luck with it and it turned out adorable. It has been knocked on the ground and banged into everything and only one tiny paint chip gone. Its really worked for us and we too have a starband helmet. sunshinyday01 <sunshinyday01@...> wrote: I painted my twins starbands again. This time I primed, then painted, and put sealer on. Does anyone have any advice for how to keep the sealer from peeling??Sunshinemommie to Gabe and Vedder 19months, starband since 2/16/06Beale AFB, CA
Guest guest
Hi Adam or , That's great that you found an artist that knows what he/she is doing. Where do you live? I'm looking for an artist in the NYC area for my son's band. Are you anywhere near by? Or, does anyone know of an artist that can paint bands around NYC area? Thanks, , mom to Alden, 7mon, Docband since 8/28 Adam & Dickman <adamkatie@...> wrote: We had my daughters helmet done by a professional artist in town a few months ago. Guest guest
I sure don't we live in San , tx. I basically got out the yellow pages to see who I could find. I find this great company who does all the art work for the plays downtown here and all over this area. They took the helmet at around 4pm and I picked it up at noon the next day. I paid $125 but I tell you its incredible. They are the best artist. I am looking for a picture of it to put up. If you are interested I bet you might be able to ship to them overnight and they could ship it back. I can not write enough about them and all incredible there work is. They worked all night long and her helmet is a work of art. She is on her 2nd helmet and we are going to have them paint it again in the next few weeks. I work around their schedule since they cannot have the helmet very long and that way they have it and have it back to me quick. The first helmet was under the sea and the next one we are gonig to do a girly garden theme. I will send you a pic of it when its done Song <jennyjesse.shower@...> wrote: Hi Adam or , That's great that you found an artist that knows what he/she is doing. Where do you live? Guest guest
Hi, The helmet looks great and although I can't really see your daughter's face, I can see her cute cheeks! My son has chubby cheeks too and they look even chubbier with the helmet on. Anyway, thanks for the info. If I absolutely cannot find an artist in my area - which I cannot imagine I won't since I'm in NYC - I will consider shipping it out. I think that will be the last resort as I don't want to have him sleep even one night without it. Thanks again, Adam & Dickman <adamkatie@...> wrote: I sure don't we live in San , tx. Guest guest
I understand and I would be like that too. When we got her helmet painted we did it when she first got it so she wore it all day then they painted it and the next day she wore til bed etc... It was easy to do since it was during her break time. I posted a nother picture (front view of Maddie) in the photos. She does have big cheeks! Kind you just can't stop kissing. Take care and send me pics of your finished helmet Song <jennyjesse.shower@...> wrote: Hi, The helmet looks great and although I can't really see your daughter's face, I can see her cute cheeks! Guest guest
We had a local artist paint our son's bands. Her " normal " artwork was murals and she also paints small furniture, etc. for homes and nurseries. I have heard of other muralists doing bands in our area (Charlotte, NC). Maybe you can find an artist that way, even if they have not done a band specifically they would probably do a good job. Stacey > I painted my twins starbands again.
