Hi Guys,

Hope everyone is well, I have some good news and some bad news. The bad news first. The wrist (left) that I injured in July has developed RSD. I suspected as much but had it seen today by my pain doc. He confirmed it. Also need some tests on it, bone scan and x-rays because something is really wrong.

So far so good with the SCS, no complications like the last two times!!!! Need to have it tweaked on the 19th to get the sensation farther down my leg. Unfortunately for this reason my pain doc would not decrease my pain meds until all that is straightened out. I am bummed because when that is straightened out I will go for my driving assessment again. i DONT WANT TO WAIT, I WANT IT NOW!!!!

Now the good news, My best friend in the whole world just sent me a ticket to Barcelona Spain for the first 2 weeks in February. It is his 40th b-day and we are going to celebrate!!! He is in Iraq and is going on R+R and I am going to meet him!!!! I am SO PSYCHED!!!!!!!!! I need a vay-cay!!!! From the docs, the hospital, just the whole medical scene. (I probably should not say that since I am an RN LOL!!!!)

I hope this post finds everyone well and pain free or at least pain reduced!!

Take care, Love Jai

Jai,

The bad news sucks, but the good news in Wonderful!

I've heard wonderful things about Barcelona, and I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Learning some Spanish before you go? I could help, I know how to ask for beer and the bathroom! LOL

Hugs,

Jo

Hi Jai,

I don't think I have talked to you, but I am looking for people that have an SCS to write me and tell me about there experience with having an SCS. See I saw a Dr that was to make a decision on how I would handle having this done to me. The Dr wanted him to tell him how I would react before and after this was done. I tried to tell him that everyone handles it differently. So could you please tell me your story if you don't mine.

Thank you

Sheri

Jai - Very sorry to hear about your wrist, but I found myself more focused on the latter part of your letter which brought a grin to my face. When I set up the vacation to New Orleans, the theme song from Cheers kept running through my head. You know... the one that saings "I just want to go where everyone knows my name." Well, like you I wanted the opposite... I wanted to go somewhere NO one knew my name.....no "Barbara can you do this?", no kids that were troubled that I was responsible for helping out, no docs, no nothing. I truly understand that need that you're having and the need to have something positive to focus on.....enough so that when I returned form New Orleans I immediately set up another trip for Halloween weekend to fly down to Baltimore with a friend. Just great news for you, Jai. And remember that the journey can be as much fun as the destination.....Read some books about Spain, plan some of the things that you

want to do there...sites and restaurants and the like. I swear the planning can be even more fun than the actual getting there.

Besides your SCS card, it's not a bad idea to have a letter from your doc about the SCS and listing the meds that you are on. I know that even with the letter, I ended up having to have a full body frisk at the airports....They wouldn't settle with just waving a wand over me between the SCS and the catheter/pump. ly, my body saw more action in those few days than it had in years (ok...so that's the real reason I scheduled another trip). Terrific news, Jai. Barbarajaismonkey@... wrote:

Jai,

I am sorry about your wrist. Wow when you say good news YOU mean good news. How wonderful that your friend did that for you.

I used to work in the hospital when we had one out here and I know exactly what you mean by needing to get away from the hospital and especially the doctors lOL

I hope your wrist won't cause a lot of problems especially with your trip coming up.

We expect to hear all about it!!

Lin

Jai,

It is so wonderful that you are going to Barcelona! My Mom, sister, and brotherinlaw have all been and had an incredible time! When my Mom went it was soon after she had knee replacement surgery done and everyone was so good to her. I am sure you will have a great time and make sure you tell us all about it when you come back from your trip! I hope that your wrist is feeling better and wish you all the best. LOL Always!

Jai,

That is great news about your friend and such a great trip to Spain!! I am sooo jealous, I've never been out of the country if you can believe that. You deserve it, that's for sure!! I'm really happy for you, definitely something to look forward to and help keep your spirits up, and I know you'll have the best time.

I'm sorry to hear about your wrist...I know how upsetting it is when the RSD keeps popping up in new places. Maybe the tests will show something that can be "fixed" instead of just the RSD. I will keep you in my prayers. Also am glad you are not having problems with the SCS (knocking on wood)...hang in there and make sure everything is ok before you start going off the meds. I know you want to drive and get back some of the things you used to be able to do but is better to be on the safe side at first. I'm sure it will all work out in the end. Hope you are having a great weekend and sorry it took me so long to write. I'm trying to catch up (my favorite words...lol). I just put a cake in the oven and you know the electric mixer that you do for like 2 minutes? It absolutely killed my right hand and arm...I've never had it hurt so bad before. It was like the vibration was felt all the way to the bone and now it is all cramped feeling and it hurts like hell. Has this happened to anyone? Well I can barely type so I'm gonna go, timer just rang too! I'll talk to you soon.

<hugs> Lori
