I got the huge packet of info. that Dr. R's office prepared, and sent to the insurance company. Today (4/20) I called to confirm it had been received, and I was told that it would go the the " Local Management Office " - my Doctor would have to call there, where he submitted it, but " they " (in New York) can't call to find out if it has been received. Asked me to call back on Friday (4/21) to see if it had been received. " " (note - I got her name!) said if it is an outpatient procedure, it would be covered 100% with no preapproval necessary. If an overnight stay was required, it would be sent first to Atlanta, then put on Microfiche (sp?) and then sent to NY (which is the 800# I called). Confused? I sure am. I guess I can wait, but I don't want to find out it was never received, and have to wait another week or two for the whole process to be repeated! I have United Healthcare Select Plus POS, and was told it was a covered benefit. I just want to make sure! Plus of course, I need to have that all important approval in writing to include in my packet! Thanks for listening. Maybe I should just be patient? Amy.
