Guest guest
The nutritionist told me I shouldn't. She said you can't handle it and less than one drink can really affect you horribly. I suppose you could experiment if it was really important to you though. --- wrote: > After WLS, can you drink any form of alcohol? Guest guest
my doc said no alcohol for at least one year, because there are so many calories in it and they dont want you waisting calories on non protein items. I, however, cheated and had a hawaiin martini on Saturday for my wedding anniversary....2 months post op....3 sips and I was in a lovely floaty place...but by time dinner was over....sober as a nun. --- wrote: > After WLS, can you drink any form of alcohol? Guest guest
I've had a few sips of sugar free margarita and felt tipsy pretty quickly. The tipsy feeling also disappeared quickly. My surgeon cautioned me about alcohol, but didn't ban it altogether. However, my nutritionist constantly reminds me about how it is empty calories and that I should only be consuming healthy foods and drinks. I think the key is everything in moderation. If you drink alcohol regularly then you will defeat the purpose of the surgery which is to eat healthy and lose weight. I have an appointment with my surgeon next week and will ask about this. Alcohol? After WLS, can you drink any form of alcohol? I haven't read this anywhere?
Guest guest
I get drunk FAST ...LOL I cant do any carbonation, cant do anything with " added " sugar in the mix, can do wine.So in other words not a lot left for me to get tipsy on...LOL ~ > > After WLS, can you drink any form of alcohol? Guest guest
Plus there are alot of empty calories in alcohol. Rhinehart wrote: They say no, or only in very small amounts. Due to the malabsorptive procedure, the alcohol goes directly to the blood stream and you get drunk very quickly on very little alcohol. wrote: After WLS, can you drink any form of alcohol? Guest guest
It is bad to have.Although I had a beer at a concert a week ago & was very shocked to NOT have been sick or buzzed at all.Maybe it is the slow sipping that prevents the alcohol absorbtion? Definately not recommended for us GBS patients. Kim F RNY 6/23/06 298/225/135 > > After WLS, can you drink any form of alcohol? Guest guest
I've had a peach martini here and there after work with the girls. I'm not a frequent drinker, but that once a month couple of drinks didn't seemed to bother me. However, on my recent trip to Puerto Rico, I met a gentleman who had an incredibly adverse reaction to alcohol. He was rushed to the hospital with bleeding ulcers. After hearing his story, I've passed on ALL of the girls nights out....not worth the chance for me.
