Guest guest
I am new to this group and my 20 month year old daughter finally got her hearing aids on Friday. She was diagnosed with severe to profound loss in both ears, but we're suspecting she might have a little more hearing than the tests showed based on her being able to localize sounds and hear from a distance (our teacher at the Clinic agrees with our observations). When the audiologist put in her hearing aids she didn't really have any reaction. I was expecting wide eyes and a lot of looking around or pointing to her ears (like she does to say " I hear that " ), but there was none of that. She's tolerating them well (not trying to pull them out, etc.). I just wondered if this was normal or if perhaps the hearing aids are set to such a low gain they aren't really making a difference yet. Just wondered what others' experiences have been. Feel free to email me privately if this has been discussed at length before. I'm sorry I didn't have time to fully search the archives. Thank you.
