Guest guest
, I'm so sorry he is not sleeping well. It's unusual for it to take more than a week but not unheard of. Taking it on and off kind of sends the wrong message to him. If he cries it comes off so he just cries until he gets his way. Now he's probably not that cogintive about it but do you see what I mean. first determine it is nothing else: teething (tylenol), hot (less clothes), sick (does he have a temp, runny nose, eating OK?), anyhting else new or changed in his environment? How severe is he? the more severe the usually longer it takes. In your parental opinion does it fit well? Doesn't move more than 1 " in any direction? doesn't move easily when he's not doing anything (rolling, laying, playing can cause it to move)? any red marks not fading in an hour? doe sit hit his ears? block his vision? any excessive sweating (see less clothes above - to the point you feel like a neglectful mommy if need be). does he do OK when not trying to sleep? check the lwoer neck area - is it leaving a red mark? Ok so nothing wrong, band OK, now you have to get MR stubborn used to it With it being a weekend this is what I would do. leave it on him 23 hours a day. Hold him if you have to, rock, sing, swing, whatever. Yes, it will be painful for you to listen to and you will get very little sleep. take turns with hubby and turn off the monitor so one of you can sleep. Someone go to bed early and then switch the night duty. Maybe try a pillow - with your watchful eye right there - at nap time. Keep us posted and good luck. na, DOC Grad X2, Feb 04, tort resolved Kiersten, DOC Grad, 4/4/06, tort resolved www.thefilyaws.com/plagio/plagio.html > > Hi- I'm pretty new to the group, and am totally desparate because my 6- > month-old won't sleep in his helmet. Guest guest
HI My son has been in his hanger helmet since March 15th. We were expecting issues with sleeping, but he took to it right away. The only time he has problems sleeping is if he " scoots " along his back or turns his head on a surface that the helmet doesn't slide easily on (such as leather or if he edges to the top/side of the crib). Then the helmet gets moved a bit on his head and irritates him. He also has trouble if he gets too warm. We dress him much lighter now that he wears the helmet than before he had it. He is absolutely miserable if he gets too warm. I was wondering if there are any red spots when you take the helmet off? If so, it may have a pressure area that is bothering him.
