Sick, etc.

Well yesterday was 2 weeks of induction for me! I made it! Today I've somehow managed to catch sick, & I usually don't get sick. Just sore throat & runny nose, no fever or aches. Also, my TOM is late, & I'm usually regular (no chance of PG cause the tubes are tied - ain't more comin' thru here!) And near as I can tell, my scale hasn't moved in a week, but I thought this was probably cause TOM is due...

Anyway, I wonder if this is cause of the WOE? I'm starting to feel a little run down & just hope I can stay on this & be healthy. What medication can I take for the cold that won't affect my ketosis, or add carbs, etc? I'm taking vitamins (one says it's specially made for low carb eating - found it at Wally World), but am I missing something else I should be taking to keep from catching sick?

I just thought I'd run this past you experts to see if y'all can give me an idea of what might be going on ...

God bless, Jeanie

Sounds to me like just a cold :) While this WOE is wonderful, it's not a

cureall (said with a smile.) I think we get so used to feeling good we

forget what it feels like to be sick. I don't know about cold meds. To be

honest, if I get a cold and feel the need to take something I just do and I

don't worry about it. I continue to eat on plan and figure a cold doesn't

last forever and as soon as I can I discontinue the medication.

Jeanie,

I have found that a zinc supplement really makes a difference in my immune system. I have been faithfully taking one a day for as long as I have been LCing and I have rarely had a cold, no bad colds at all, and I don't think I have been sick either. That is a real change for me, I use to have a cold from the first change in weather until the end of winter. I also work at a college where students are skipping classes because they don't feel well, but they manage to make it to my office anyway.

I know some people take calcium/magnesium/zinc tablets and say that is great as well for many reasons.

Thanks Jean. Maybe I just need a little supplement here, I'll go tonight & look for zinc. It can't hurt :)
