Guest guest
Hi everyone, Just wondered why things have been so quiet in the last couple of days - not many posts (or maybe I'm just not receiving them?) - is this something to do with being moderated? Don't really understand what being moderated means..........? Can anyone explain? Sorry for so many questions. Hope everyone is OK., Jacky (London)
Guest guest
Hi Jacky, I'll answer your questions one at a time, in an effort to clarify what has been happening at our cea Support Group lately. 1) On Tuesday May 1, imposed temporary moderation on the Group in order to eliminate numerous hostile messages. These flames were provoked by several messages that were medically unfounded, and somewhat antagonistic in nature. This was the second incident of its type within the past week or so. The situation was getting out of control, and some Group members were (understandably) becoming very disturbed by the negativity in many of these messages. The negative messages needed to be eliminated in order to get the Group back on an even keel, with members helping each other. According to the Group settings for cea Support, messages still require approval, ie they are still subject to moderation. 2) Moderation is an option of Groups which enables the Owner/Moderator of the Group (ie ) to require approval of messages by the Moderator before the messages are posted. 3) All of the Yahoo Groups have been *extremely* slow for the past couple of days. Normally I use the online Post function at the Groups sites (instead of email) to post messages. The online function seems to have been disabled. I can submit messages via email, but the messages often take hours to be posted to the Group. This Groups posting issue arose quite abruptly. I belong to four other Groups in addition to cea Support, and I have been experiencing the same problems and delays in posting to all Groups, not just cea Support. But-- my messages have been (eventually) posted, if submitted via email. Yahoo is planning to migrate all of its Clubs to Yahoo Groups in the coming months. I can only assume that Yahoo is doing some work which has impacted Groups, and that Groups will be restored to (relative) health by the next millennium. :-) ~Jim http://profiles.yahoo.com/kali2030 *************************************************** Hi everyone, Just wondered why things have been so quiet in the last couple of days - not many posts (or maybe I'm just not receiving them?) - is this something to do with being moderated? Right at the point that the group was changed to moderated, Y!G slowed to a halt. It was taking several hours for a message to get to the moderated page and several hours for it to appear in the messages page (and to be delivered via email). It was so slow that it could be confused for broken. Normal delivery has been reinstated now so we should see must faster responses. cheers, davidp. -- Pascoe, dp@..., South Perth, Western Australia
