Guest guest
This should interest to those who are using clonidine or beta blockers. Dr Nase has advised in his book that he found moxonodine to be more effective than clonidine, with less side effects (eg sedation), for SNS mediated flushing. Moxonodine is a little known drug. Rick has already posted some remarks about moxonodine in a previous post. He also posted a link, but I noticed that the link was truncated. I'm going to paste Rick's comments about moxonodine below. Further information is in Dr Nase's book, page 166. The following is courtesy of Rick, message# 26975. If the link truncates here as well, copy the entire URL and paste it into your address box, then hit Enter: " (2) MOXONODINE: Geoffrey personally used this successfully, and its value lies in its more precise targeting of sns activity than clonidine, without the usual side effects of clonidine. It certainly is not well publicized elsewhere. I had to search a while to finally find following source: http://www.solvaypharmaceuticals.com/html/products/Cardiology/physiote ns.html I have had some success in mitigating flushing with Xanax, and am going to pursue moxonodine since I believe my flushing is sns-mediated. " Thanks Rick. ~Jim
Guest guest
Hello everyone, I received the following questions in an email, I'll just paste the text in case others are wondering: " I tried the link, but it isn't working. What is SNS mediated flushing? " The link was truncated; the remainder of the URL is on line 2 of the link but is not active. To use the URL, copy BOTH LINES of the URL and paste the complete URL into the address (URL) box of your browser, then hit Enter. The link is in my original message on this topic. SNS mediated flushing: The sympathetic nervous system exacerbates flushing. This is likely to be a factor for the majority of those with flushing problems. Rather than go into detail here, I'm going to include a link to section of the cea-LTD site which describes SNS flushing in detail. *This* is a short link so there should be no problem with wraparound link truncation, which was the case previously. Anyway, here's that link: http://www.rosacea-ltd.com/flushing.html ~Jim http://profiles.yahoo.com/kali2030
Guest guest
Hi Jim, I've used moxonidine, which I'm able to obtain from the UK since it's still not approved for use in North America, but unfortunately I found it to be less effective for my flushing than clonidine. I do know of others in the UK who have had more success with it, and it's definitely worth a try for those who can get hold of it.
