Guest guest
There has been lots of discussions in the past about this. The general concensus is that often times the popped corn is GF, it is when they add the " buttery flavoring " that it may not be GF. Double check with the particular theater you go to, check with the manager and ask how it is prepared. Leave off the " buttery flavoring " to be on the safe side. Also, many theaters do not use soy oil, they generally use palm or coconut oil for popping. So if you have problems with soy, you may still be able to have the theater corn! We have been to at least 4 theaters here in the Twin Cities and have done just fine with the popcorn at each one. Hope this helps, Cheryl in MN Cheryl rxp_us@... Guest guest
I've found that all the theaters I've gone to (granted, only local ones) have been fine for the popcorn and NOT fine for the added " butter. " My younger kids have been messed up several times with friends whose parents hear the " yes, popcorn is okay " and don't hear the " just don't add the butter. " So we know first hand that the butter is bad. > > There has been lots of discussions in the past about this. Guest guest
We sneak our treats in. We get theater size candy at target and bottles of water. My dd takes raisins and water. She doesn't do dairy, gluten, sugar, high sodium or fat so there isn't anything (I think) that they sell that she will eat. I know you aren't supposed to sneak them in but there are too many issues with food in our family. I am not chancing it. Guest guest
I went to their web site (marcus theaters) and emailed the manager. He double checked with his suppliers and said it was GF. Don't know about your local theater but I would check to see if they have a web site and if not I would call and have the manager check. The manager for Marcus Theaters was realy nice and got back to me quickly. > > > > Does anyone know if Southern Theatres LLC, Grand 18 Theatre, has > popcorn that is gluten free? > > > > __________________________________________________ > >

Guest guest
I just can't help thinking that the popcorn in movie theaters is so bad for you. Who would want to eat it anyway? All that bad fat! It's almost as bad as French fries. Those are just chunks of fat, and not the healthy kind, either. I prefer the microwave popcorn that is just 110 calories a serving. It's darn good, and comes in salty or sweet and salty flavors. I think ActII is the best, fewer unpopped kernels. Just because we have to be gluten-free doesn't mean we can put junk into our bodies. There is plenty of healthy food around for us. Thanks for listening to my ranting. Sometimes I can't control myself!! At least when I do it here no one can hear me! Not every theater uses cottonseed oil or coconut oil, either. Personally, I can't stand the popcorn that comes in those bags. It has no flavor. I buy popcorn from Lehman's or Yoder. Amish popcorn is the best! Pop it on the stove in safflower oil, then either eat it just with salt or with some butter and nutritional yeast! Yum! http://amishcountrypopcorn.com/ http://www.yoderpopcorn.com/ The shop samples at the Yoder Popcorn shop are popped in pure canola oil. They use plain old salt for seasoning. Good old-fashioned popcorn actually has flavor and body, unlike the stuff sold in most stores. And it's definitely superior to Act II--no additives or hydrogenated oils! ygg

Almost any kid who is GF, that's who. Going to the movies with their friends and sharing popcorn is one of the few things a celiac child can completely share in - and don't underestimate how huge that can be to kids. > Just because we have to be gluten-free > doesn't mean we can put junk into our bodies.
