Has anyone heard of Dr. Baxt in Paramus, NJ (photoderm dr.)? I just

called her and they told me you CAN stay on the minocycline while undergoing

treatments, you just can't take it 24 hours before but can resume right

afterwards. Go figure! (This isn't what Dr. -Lat's office told me).

ANYWAY, now it's a matter of hoping she is reputable - has anyone heard

anything about her?

Any input will be appreciated,

Thanks-

Donna

Donna--

Don't know about your prospective doc, but about the

mino issue: I was taking mino when I started PD

treatments with Dr. Bitter's office in SF. I was told

to discontinue it about 72 hours before my first

treatment, and that I could resume it afterwards w/in

another 72 hours. When I had a flare after the second

treatment, they decreased the intervals to 24 hours

pre- and post-treatment. I think the premise is that

mino, being a photosensitizing drug, could potentially

result in more frequent or severe side effects (like

burning or blistering), but I also think that the

basis for this is strictly theoretical. In other

words, I don't think this has happened to PD pts. on

minocycline, but that it's w/in the realm of

possibility that it could happen, and docs would like

to avoid it. I never had any problems during treatment

that were a result of the drug.
