Deseeding Strawberries?

I'd like to give my son some cooked strawberries in his yogurt but I'm

not sure how to get rid of the seeds or if it is necessary. He has

been on the diet for over a year. He is using nut butters, still

cooked veggies and fruits and goat yogurt. Would it be a huge mistake

to just puree the cooked strawberries as is and mix it in the yogurt or

is there a way to get rid of the seeds....

TIA

my understanding is that you just cut/peel them away with a knife

since the seeds are all on the outside of the strawberry.

Hi TIA:

I found that even when my daughter could tolerate the seeds, that deseeding

still helped because strawberry seeds are so numerous and annoying once the

strawberries are pureed. I cook the strawberries on low heat, in a saucepan,

until they are mush. Then I force them through a very, very fine sieve. I have

one that I got at a tag sale-I have a different, newer sieve and although the

holes look microscopic, the strawberry seeds could still fit through. This works

with other fruits as well: raspberries, blueberries, etc. I often use the

puree and make frozen yogurt with a little added honey.

Hope this helps.

Whirl frozen strawberries around in the blender for a few seconds. It

removes the skin and seeds wonderfully.

You could try a little and see if he is ready for it.

When I make strawberry smoothies, if I let it sit for as bit I find

most of the seeds sink to the bottom. If I don't my kids leave more

in their cups because they don't like getting all the seeds at once.
