Guest guest
We don't have such issue, since we never think of ask PT to issue a prescription. It takes us 6 weeks to finally have the appointment with the surgeon. I hope you don't need go through the same thing. If you are not HMO, maybe you can call CT office to see whether they can recommend some doctors they working with to help you get the appointment sooner. Or you can ask around to see is there any other PD in your area did issue such prescription and take Alyssa there. Good luck. Sunny > > Alyssa's ped wont authorize treatment at CT. Guest guest
For some reason some peds just don't want the responsibility. Go to another ped. I would fire the one you have and seek one that will help you get what you need for your daughter. Guest guest
we went thru all that-a specialist, a nuerosurgeon and a PT-just to get a proper assesment...they did scans and ultrasounds of his neck and hips and such (for the torticollis) they were thorough, and i felt better knowing the plagio wasnt an effect of something else underlying-at least i know its just plagio and not something more serious- look at it that way. > > > > Alyssa's ped wont authorize treatment at CT. Guest guest
Hi, I'd fire your current pediatrician and hire one who is plagio educated. You could probably do that a lot quicker than getting an appt with a specialist. There's ususally a 6-8 week wait to get into see a specialist. That's a lot of wasted correction time. Good luck and keep us posted. > > Alyssa's ped wont authorize treatment at CT. Guest guest
It may be a good idea to have a specialist look at it if he suspects there may be fused sutures involved. He may suspect this from the shape of the head. We had to see a specialist before we got any of the 3 bands. Haylee mom to andre doc band grad > > Alyssa's ped wont authorize treatment at CT. Guest guest
If your pedi can give you a good reason to see the specialist, or if it will ease your mind, then I would go with their advice. If on the other hand, this is just about a pedi being uneducated and stubborn with referrals, then get a second opinion from another pedi. Our pedi was hestitant to refer us when I asked at my son's 2 month visit. He referred for PT. Ok, good step. Then I went back at 3 months and asked for a referral then...he still said no. So I waited til 4 month visit, then I hear, " Oh, we probably should have sent him to CT sooner. " Then I fought with the pedi's referral person for a month to complete the referral. I have one stubborn pedi when it comes to referrals and I almost found another pedi for my son after this. Amy (SC) >> Alyssa's ped wont authorize treatment at CT.
