Guest guest
Hello I haven't been on in a long time and I'm so so sorry. Life with 3 young children keep my hopping. My son is hoh and has hearing aids but won't wear them. His speech was getting better but now it's getting worse. We were told it's due to him trying to speak long sentances. He does sign. If he talks and signs at the sametime then some people can understand him. He is still in the birth to 3 program but that will end in Dec. Which is going to be hard on him. didn't get his ears (hearing aids) til he was 2yrs. We have known he was hoh since birth. But his Aud didn't think at the time we should get him fit for it. But we thought that was odd. So when he turned 2 I asked for them and the Aud said you really want to try them? I thought that was strange she said that. He will wear them when we are out of the house. But doesn't like to wear them when he is home and takes them apart. Grrrr. Well getting to my question here Sorry. Our 13month old had a hearing test last month. We found out she has a mild to mod hearing loss. She had tubes put in and gets retested this week. My question is if her test comes back with a hearing loss which I think it will. Should I ask the aud for hearing aids for her at this age? Part of me feels s speech may have been better if he would have had his hearing aids when he was younger. Please tell me what your thoughts are on this. I feel like if she does have a loss then I do want her fitted. But I know the aud isn't going to let us do it. So I'm not sure what to do. Thanks so much for you help advance.
