Guest guest
My family has been SCD for 6 weeks now. We're doing it for my 4 year old daughter with autism. Since starting the SCD, she sleeps through the night and poops on her own. Previously, she'd be up 1 to 3 hours a night (very hyper) and she'd only poop if we gave her a suppository. I am very thankful for these results (although I admit I'm jealous of the families going out for pizza and ice cream while I am slaving in the kitchen baking my own bread and making my own hot dogs). My daughter has always had very, very bad yeast problems, which is why we started this diet. We got her yeast down a little, but it went back up when we started chelating her with TD-DMPS. We haven't tested her yeast levels since starting SCD. However, I am interested in taking a " belt and suspenders " approach. I have read about how other chelating parents have kept their children's yeast levels down by rotating anti- fungals every four days so the yeast can't build a resistance to the anti-fungal. Some yeast killers I'm interested in are: 1. grapefruit seed extract (www.nbnus.com/store/product_info.php?cPath= 26&products_id=51&osCsid=bdd578bc3d51e0a932ea29a57e129bb6) 2. oil of oregano (www.nbnus.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=26& products_id=143&osCsid=bdd578bc3d51e0a932ea29a57e129bb6) 3. olive leaf extract (www.nbnus.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=26& products_id=49&osCsid=bdd578bc3d51e0a932ea29a57e129bb6) 4. candex (www.nbnus.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=58& osCsid=bdd578bc3d51e0a932ea29a57e129bb6) 5. saccharomyces boulardii (Kirkman's legal: www.kirkmanlabs.com/cgi-bin/ hse/HomepageSearchEngine.cgi?url=http://www.kirkmanlabs.com/products/ probiotics/saccharomyces/Saccharomyces_C_60_Spec240.html;geturl=d+ highlightmatches+gotofirstmatch;terms=saccharomyces#firstmatch) 6. uva ursi ( www.nbnus.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=26& products_id=54&osCsid=bdd578bc3d51e0a932ea29a57e129bb6) 7. pau d'arco (Elaine says it's illegal on her website; Kirkman's says it's legal as one of many ingredients in an SCD legal yeast killer) 8. goldenseal extract (www.nbnus.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=26& products_id=52&osCsid=bdd578bc3d51e0a932ea29a57e129bb6) 9. MCT Liquid (www.nbnus.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=33& products_id=93&osCsid=bdd578bc3d51e0a932ea29a57e129bb6) 12. Yeast Aid (www.kirkmanlabs.com/cgi-bin/hse/ HomepageSearchEngine.cgi?url=http://www.kirkmanlabs.com/products/ specialty/yeast/Yeast_c_100_Spec058.html;geturl=d+highlightmatches+ gotofirstmatch;terms=yeast+aid#firstmatch) 13. Candicid Forte (www.nbnus.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=33& products_id=63&osCsid=bdd578bc3d51e0a932ea29a57e129bb6) 14. biocidin (www.biobotanicalresearch.com/biocidin.html) Which of these are SCD illegal? Has anyone had any good or bad experiences with any of these? Can you see anything wrong with rotating about 4 yeast killers everyoy 4 days. Thanks. Guest guest
I am not an expert on the SCD legal/illegal and I also posted about threelac and GSE a couple weeks ago and got no response. I believe GSE is legal (based on my own research), threelac is not, Oil of Orgeno I believe is ( I put it in my sons soup, as it is VERY strong), garlic is legal (fresh garlic), Yeast Aid I do not think it is legal, as it is flavoured (BTW tried it and it did nothing for us). Sorry I could not be more help, Quinsmum > My family has been SCD for 6 weeks now. We're doing it for my 4 year old > daughter with autism. Guest guest
We've had good success with saccomyoces boulardi with our son. Had die off and helped stool and sleep, but didn't do much behaviorally. Also used grapeseed extract when when newborn daughter had thrush (in her mouth and on my breast) This worked great for that. Guest guest
Hi Luann, I've had great results with a natural anti fungal 4 day rotation. The SCD diet has helped my son. He no longer appears to have stomach pains but his yeast levels remained high. The products we use are: Grapefruit seed extract, Candex, Olive leaf extract & uva ursi. As far as I know all of these products are SCD legal. I tried the oil of oregano but it tastes SO nasty. My son is about 26 lbs and I use half the adult dosage for each of these products. GSE & Candex caused die off reactions the first time we tried them. He had diarrhea & lots of bowel movements on those days. I just reduced the dosage and gradually worked back up. After about 6 weeks his yeast numbers were cut in half. His hippuric acid levels didn't come down very much but I'm hoping it will over time. I started MB12 shots in February, SCD in March & natural anti fungals towards the end of March. My 3 year old has made great strides during this timeframe. Guest guest
I am also on a search for different yeast killers. One of my kids has been on this diet for 14 months and I still see black lines under his eyes at least once weekly. I am thinking it could only be yeast. Is Candex legal? Do I buy capsules to stick oil of oregano or gse at the health food store? Thanks Pearl --------------------------------- Discover Yahoo! Find restaurants, movies, travel & more fun for the weekend. Guest guest
it may not be as simple as yeast since black lines udner the eyes are usually symptomatic of liver toxin processing issues but candex is scd legal a good oregano oil is 'oreganol' made by north american herb and spice gse is fairly toxic to the liver and rough on the gut oreganol is just a drop or two down the back of the throat say a bit after candex taken first thing in the morning but oreganol is strong and burning and should not be taken regularly, bit like chilli really which actually makes me think about chillis being similar in effect............ > > I am also on a search for different yeast killers. Guest guest
does this mean then that the liver is detoxing on it's own? andrew alevin@...> wrote: it may not be as simple as yeast since black lines udner the eyes are usually symptomatic of liver toxin processing issues but candex is scd legal a good oregano oil is 'oreganol' made by north american herb and spice gse is fairly toxic to the liver and rough on the gut oreganol is just a drop or two down the back of the throat say a bit after candex taken first thing in the morning but oreganol is strong and burning and should not be taken regularly, bit like chilli really which actually makes me think about chillis being similar in effect............ > > I am also on a search for different yeast killers. Guest guest
" I still see black lines under his eyes at least once weekly. " For us, the dark circles under the eyes is a sulfur problem. Highly phenolic foods and allergies caused them. MSM has gotten rid of them. Have you been able to keep a log of what is eaten when you see the dark circles? Jody mom to -6 and -8 SCD 29 months
