Guest guest
Poor kai we have been scd for what 3 -4 weeks now. Kai started the diet brilliantlu, he hadnt had any fruit for so long etc, anyway over the last week, he has just looked worse and worse, and hes even shown behaviour that we havnt seen before, he then started passing undigested food. I put him on the intro diet again for last 2 days, he had 14 hours sleep last night, got up looking a little better, the panda eyes actualy looked less. and then 2 hours later had the most horrendous diarrhoea. I dont know what this mean. Kai appeared, before i took out carbs to have probs with sals/phenols/amines. All he wanted to eat when we began scd was those type foods, bananas, apples, tomatoes. I tried not to let him have to much, but he was constantly hungry. Kai has also had a problem with being constipated but i would have thought with extra fruit in the diet, this sud have lessened, but then that might have been offset by the fact that he eats approx 2-3 eggs a day in cooking. with no fruit (except pears, raw and peeled) and only eating, all the meats, carrots and green beans cooked, kai has perfect bms, once a day. he also seems to cope with red cabbage, iceberg lettuce, but not much more, He doesnt like much else and i havent tried either to be honest, im just trying to get this stage right. so.... has all the fruit fermented in his bowel? is he constipated and thats why the fruit has been fermenting in the bowel or would the fruit have fermented anyway? can i assume that the sals/phenols/amines may still pose a probelm and sud be left well alone for another 3 months? Is it worth me trying again wen hes calmed down but with 1 fruit a day on rotation, or will they still build up toxic wise even if not on the fermenting side of things? He also wont eat fruit cooked!!! sorry for so many questions, hes just so gutted, hes been eating hardly anything for months pretty much what he does now but with added pots and rice. and it was so nice to see him enjoy eating for once. aaagh. im so annoyed, he was having all these with enzymes and phenol assist, but they didnt appear to help, im only supplementing him on kitrkmans everyday companion powder, lactobacillus, biocare liquid zinc now, leaving the enzymes for the minute (waiting for nn clo peach, cant have citrus, it causes kai migraines.) sorry for the whinge, thank you for listening, em, kai 7 asd dspx uc fian 2 uc happy today, (hes been fine no upset belly at all!!!! guess hes not as badly affected as kai)

Since he looked better (extra sleeping is also another die off symptom) and had a large bowel movement it sounds as if he was clearing something out of his system , in other words more die off. Perhaps the last few days before putting him back on the intro he was eating some food or foods that he wasn't ready to digest, once he was able to digest foods hagain on the intro his body cleared out the nasty stuff with the diarrhea (which is not uncommon with die off) > I dont know what this mean. I > tried not to let him have to much, but he was constantly hungry. Increased hunger is extremely common on the diet - once their bodies gets food that it can digest (instead of microbial fermentation in the body) it will switch digestion and start to heal (which requires extra food energy ...so they are often quite hungry. > Kai has also had a problem with being constipated but i would have > thought with extra fruit in the diet, this sud have lessened, but > then that might have been offset by the fact that he eats approx 2- 3 > eggs a day in cooking. Extra fruit may help some children but not necessarily all. If he isn't ready for raw fruit then it will feed harmful microbes (bacteria and/or yeast). > with no fruit (except pears, raw and peeled) and only eating, all > the meats, carrots and green beans cooked, kai has perfect bms, once > a day. So, he was okay with this bowel-wise and behaviour-wise. > he also seems to cope with red cabbage, iceberg lettuce, but not > much more, He doesnt like much else and i havent tried either to be > honest, im just trying to get this stage right. Cabbage is a much harder to digest food. To best determine which foods he is actually ready for you could try keeping a food journal and only add one new food after the intro every 3-5 days. Were the cabbage and lettuce cooked or raw? he may not be ready to digest raw fruit and vegetable. Have you tried epsom salt baths? They really seem to help many of the children who are going through a lot of die off. Let us know how he does the next few days.
