Guest guest
Hi , sorry i have taken so long to reply, moving house at present and taking on more work forthe next month Our liqigen(coconut oil based) is calculated in to the diet, as is a fat source , we can chose the fat source, e.g. margarine, olive oil, etc, thjis is seperate from the liqigen. I believe MCT oil is a totally different product, more concentrated than liquigen, this may be calculated into diet in the future. Hope this answers your question, Nicola

Guest guest
LaVerna, Stella's blood ketones have never been that hight to begin with, her bhb is only about a 5, but her urine ketones are always black, so whatever that means. I do use a little flax/ and coconut oil which are both natural MCT oils, actually I think they are longer chain triglycerides, but do a similiar thing to ketones. I've also bought some macadamia nut oil which I use a lot on salads and I do use lots of virgin olive oil too. For some reason this time, her seizures are slowing down, I think it's also due to the weaned diazepam though. Stella hasn't had another BHB test since we stopped the MCT oil, so I don't have a true answer for you on that. amanda On Sunday, August 22, 2004, at 11:26 AM, Laverna Moreland wrote: > , > did you notice a change in ketones when you stopped the MCT oil? Guest guest
I just wanted to share that we are adding MCT oil to our daughters diet starting tomorrow. She will be getting 30 grams a day. I feel as though this is our last ditch effort with the diet. I don't want to give up because I still feel we haven't given it its best shot. We have always felt that we would never really now how the diet is working until all meds werre gone. It has been a constant fight with weaning the phenobarbital with the doctor. Still jumping through hoops to make him happy enough to consider. It has been an on and off again with weaning since April, but never getting the final okay. It has come down to that my husband has to communicate with the dr because I am to upset to have a productive conversation with him. Sorry this is so long. If anyone has good or bad experience with MCT oil please share with me. ~ mother to 4 (almost 5) started diet in January.
Guest guest
, we too tried MCT oil after having no consistent benefits from the diet and Stella went way too ketotic, she vomited, went hyperglycemic and refused to eat, It's a fine balance with MCT oil. Good luck with it amanda On Wednesday, October 6, 2004, at 04:42 PM, mdcherry0917 wrote: > > I just wanted to share that we are adding MCT oil to our > daughters diet starting tomorrow.
