Guest guest
My 7-month old daughter has had her DOC band now for 8 days. I haven't gotten a wink of sleep for 8 days. She was never a " great " sleeper before the band (usually woke twice/night), but now, she has to sleep deprived (just like her mommy). The funny thing is is that she sleeps well with it on during the day. Although she does tend to take her naps in her car seat because I'm galavanting around entertaining our 2.5 month old son. If I'm able to get her to sleep in my arms after feeding, then I try to wait until she's deeply asleep so that I can move her into her crib without her waking. If nothing seems to work, I cart her car seat into her room and let her sleep in that. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Guest guest
Hi, Welcome to the group! Sorry to hear of your's and your daughter's lack of sleep. :-( Have you tried keeping her awake as much as possible during the day? Maybe she'll be so exhausted by that point that she sleeps? It does take some babies some time to adjust to sleeping in their bands. I don't think that's the problem w/your baby b/c she sleeps in it during the day. Hopefully she'll be sleeping at night for you. Keep us posted! -- In Plagiocephaly , " Annie Y.S. Gristina " <aysgristina@...> wrote: > > My 7-month old daughter has had her DOC band now for 8 days. Guest guest
Welcome to the group. I know that if we go anywhere during the day and they fall asleep in the car it messes up how they go to bed at night. I'm always trying to line up car rides to coincide with their nap time. I found that being on a schedule really helped they slept at certain times only. That would probably be hard to do with a 2.5 year old though. Sorry I wish I could help. I'm sure there will be others who have experienced this as well. They will probably have some better ideas. Guest guest
Welcome to the group. Hmm. Sometimes it takes a little while for kids to get used to it. How severe it she? Is she brachy? Sometimes the more severe infants or brachy infants tend to have the most trouble sleepeing since they were so far off round. With the band they have a very round spot and it interrupts their favorite position. This is probably why she likes the car seat. With the band on the car seat is no longer taboo. I would ease her into the sleeping. Try your other methods and when it fails put the car seat in her crib. It's a good sign that she will take a nap in it. That tells me it's probably a comfort not a fit issue. na, DOC Grad X2 Feb 04 Kiersten, DOC Grad 4/4/06, Tort Resolved www.thefilyaws.com/plagio/plagio.html > > My 7-month old daughter has had her DOC band now for 8 days. Guest guest
I also try to line up car rides to coincide with nap times. But as you said, that can be difficult sometimes. I'm hoping time will just help her adjust to it at night. Thanks, Annie > > > > My 7-month old daughter has had her DOC band now for 8 days. I > > haven't gotten a wink of sleep for 8 days. Guest guest
I, of course, try to keep her up during the day as much as possible, but with me trying to cart my son around to his activities, she always seems to fall asleep in the car...no matter what. If I'm home though, I do keep her up as much as I can. Thanks, Annie > > > > My 7-month old daughter has had her DOC band now for 8 days. I > > haven't gotten a wink of sleep for 8 days. Guest guest
I agree with you...I believe it's a comfort issue more than a fit issue. She's moderately plagio with some neck favoring (not sure what that's called technically). We are doing neck exercises with her religiously. I only use the car seat at night when all else fails. Only time will tell. Thanks, Annie > > > > My 7-month old daughter has had her DOC band now for 8 days. I > > haven't gotten a wink of sleep for 8 days. Guest guest
Hopefully in a week's time, I'll be able to write and let you all know that all is well again. Wish me luck. Guest guest
I had some problems with my son Jack around 8 months. He would fall asleep in your arms and the minute you put him in the crib he would walk up. Or he would wake up shortly after that. We tried the crying it out but it was making it worse. Found at that at daycare they were letting him fall asleep in the highchair. So we worked very hard on making sure he slept only in a crib. We also played with him in his room and with him in his crib so he would know it wasn't a scary place. We also got this Ocean Wonders Aquarium for his crib -- plays music, has lights and he can activate it. Finally figured out that he was also afraid of the dark so put a night light in. Now we can put him in the crib wide awake and he will put himself to sleep. Naps on the weekends take a little bit longer to get him to go to sleep. I think the key was making sure he was awake when we put him down at night so he could learn how to get himself to fall to sleep, the aquarium, and the night light. The playing in the crib was a big hit too. --- " Annie Y.S. Gristina " <aysgristina@...> wrote: > I also try to line up car rides to coincide with nap > times.
