Guest guest
HI Janine! Besides a couple of months last summer I've always heard excellent things about them and I've been a part of this group for three years. My son actually used Cranial Tech when they were in Atlanta but he received PT in the O & P dept of CHOA right there next to ish Rite. Excellent staff! Good luck! Guest guest
Hi Janine, We are currently with CHOA. My son has been in his Starband for 3 weeks now and so far so good. I think that the staff is professional and the orthos (esp. Joe & ) are excellent. I heard great things about them and was referred to them by one of the most well known and respected pediatricians in Atlanta. Hope that helps! Let's stay in touch. > > If so, what was your exerience. > thanks > Janine >
Guest guest
Janine, My son is being treated at CHOA for a STARBand. We see Plank , she heads the departmentfor Cranial Remolding. Our experience has been very positive so far. He started at 8.5 months for Brachy and may graduate in 2weeks after 12 weeks of treatment! You will be in good hands at CHOA. I can only vouch for but am sure the other orthos are good as well. I just know that is well respected in this field and is very educated on this subject matter. She's also wonderfully patient and kind. Good luck! Mommy to Mason- STARBand on 1/26 at 8.5 mos. > > If so, what was your exerience. > thanks > Janine >
Guest guest
Janine, Are you having fit problems? I noticed from the photos you posted before that the band looked kind of tight on the cheeks. Guest guest
Well is the one that originally scanned him, but was not available to fit him the day the helmet came in, but I was told the guy that did fit him had actually trained , so I felt I was in good hands. I was very concerned on how tight it seemed on his cheeks, but was told that that is the way it stays on. I will call and talk to Monday and see what she thinks about all this. I'm very happy to hear all the good experiences as I was a little worried I might not be in the best of hands. I'll let you know how it goes. take care Janine > > > > > > If so, what was your exerience. > > > thanks > > > Janine > > > > > >
Guest guest
Our experience with CHOA O & P was very bad and a poor-fitting helmet fitted by several of their orthos caused additional deformity. It scares me very much that they are now the only band provider in the Atlanta area. (CT closed in February.) I am sorry to be so negative but please exercise caution with this provider. > > If so, what was your exerience. > thanks > Janine >
Guest guest
, Please don't be sorry. We need to hear the good and the bad!! It's one of the reasons this group is here. -- In Plagiocephaly , " wxpd94y4 " <wxpd94y4@...> wrote: > > Our experience with CHOA O & P was very bad and a poor-fitting helmet fitted by several > of their orthos caused additional deformity. Guest guest
, Are you still having fit issues? Guest guest
His cheek is better but we left the band off for the weekend. I really think that his issues stem from his rapid growth (he's gaining weight like crazy) and not so much from the band. Of course, that's just my un-informed opinion. We are keeping a close eye. I'm hopeful that we can get him in tomorrow and I will let you know what they say. We may run him by the ped just to be safe. > > > > > > If so, what was your exerience. > > > thanks > > > Janine > > > > > >
Guest guest
The cheeks shouldn't be how the band stays in place. Perhaps they can just shave a little from the inside so they aren't squishing him. Great job on the decorating BTW. Guest guest
I'm getting frustrated now. We took Elias in yesterday and got his band re-adjusted. Great. I just took his helmet off for his bath tonight and he has a HUGE welt on his forhead. It looks like a burn. There's no way I can put it back on him now. I wonder if he grew so much over the weekend when we took the helmet off for his cheek that his band is now too tight on his forehead?? or could this be the result of the adjustment yesterday?? I don't know what to do. The ortho we usually use (), who I trust, is on vacation. Any suggestions? > > > > > > > > If so, what was your exerience. > > > > thanks > > > > Janine > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Gosh.. that sounds terrible. Could it be from the helmet shifting and rubbing? Could the band be too loose rather than tight? Did they say when would be back? I've heard of folks on the board using mole skin but if it's bad... I would take it off until it clears up. If it's not an open wound... Cortaid might help. Keep us posted..sorry you are going thru this. > > > > > > > > > > If so, what was your exerience. > > > > > thanks > > > > > Janine > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
--- yha we have an appointment with them next week. Iam so nervous about it. It took such a long time to get that appointment, first you go to ped for referal, to the neuro then to choa. I dunno whats going to happen. I am so much concerned about my daughters facial appearance in the mirror. Does it really goes away with band. Has anyone had success with it ?? How much the band at choa exactly cost ? Guest guest
Who did your adjusting, my son is having the same problem and I am going in today to get it adjusted, I wanted to ask for , but was told she was out sick, so I would get again, he was the one that fit him the first time and I wasn't so sure he did it correct, but was told he is who trained . When I left there my sons was causing red marks on his cheeks, I was told it would go away in 10 minutes or I should call, well for the first few days it did go away, but now they are staying and he also has red marks on the flat side of his head, which is where we need the rounding out to be. When I take the band off he has an imprint of the shape of the whole front of the band marked across his head, front and back. His pediatric doctor saw him yesterday and said it needed adjusting as it seemed to be too small and tight the way it is. I hope knows what he's doing. > > > > > > > > > > If so, what was your exerience. > > > > > thanks > > > > > Janine > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >

Guest guest
Hi there, I saw today. I just don't know Janine. He said that Elias' new mark is from friction (and not a tight fit) which actually makes sense. is really the only one I trust. Oh and when we took him in on Monday we saw Greg who, come to find out, is an assistant. Not cool. My plan is to insist on seeing . Hopefully she's better soon. As for your son, I would just keep a CLOSE eye on everything like you've been doing and don't be afraid to be persistent. > > > > > > > > > > > > If so, what was your exerience. > > > > > > thanks > > > > > > Janine > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Janine, I'm sorr you're going through this. I hope your ortho DOES know what he's doing. Hopefully will be back soon. > > > > > > > > > > > > If so, what was your exerience. > > > > > > thanks > > > > > > Janine > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >

Guest guest
Well when I got there they ended up making me see Greg, they were short staffed, I sure hope he knew what he was doing, it does seem much better, I am suppose to see next visit. thankfully. PS: I go back on the 25th at 12:30pm, when is your next visit, we might have been there at the same time today and not known it, I was there from 3:15 till 4:30. My son had the Andretti design helmet. My boys where in the double stroller. Guest guest
Red marks on the flat spots? That is not good. We had the same problem. We abandoned the treatment. We felt it made his forehead bossing worse because of red marks on the flat side of his forehead all the time. Be careful. Guest guest
Is your child wearing the band now? If it is from friction wouldn't that mean the band is moving around? It's not supposed to move around is it? Guest guest
Yes, he has been wearing it. They shaved the inside today so it's not so tight. The area near the flat spot has also been shaved so he now has room to grow. I think he has a better fit, but it's not as tight as it was, so it can slide up if you pull on it. I just can't seem to get it right. It's either too tight or not tight enough. I sure hope this works. I am getting very depressed about this ordeal. He's been though so much for a 7 m old. I hate this. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > If so, what was your exerience. > > > > > > > > thanks > > > > > > > > Janine > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Hi Haylee, You're right. The ortho said the band is moving around...hence the friction. We are supposed to put a tiny bit of A & D ointment on his forehead so that when/if it continues to move around that it will slide as opposed to chafe. We have yet to put the band back on. We shall see. Now for an off topic question. We have such a similar experience re: our twins and one being lodged in the rib cage. Ouch! Question: Did you end up having any damage to your ribcage? Mine is now assymetrical. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > If so, what was your exerience. > > > > > > > > thanks > > > > > > > > Janine > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Oh try not to feel to bad. It is not your job to get it right it is their job to get it right. It is not fair that our children have to go through this ordeal. Especially when there are fit issues. We had 2 ill fitting starbands and that experience was one of the hardest things we have ever had to deal with. They were also too tight, then too loose befor we knew it the helmets were botched. I hope they can get it fitting well. Remember none of this is your fault. Guest guest
Oh my goodness, your ribs are assymetrical? Now I'm checking mine! lol. No I think they are pretty much symetrical. I do still have numbness in my lower stomach area on one side. My stomach sets off the medal detector at the airport now but that's a whole nother storey. I thought I was going to be tottaly damaged after my pregnancy. It hurt so much the last month. All I could do was shower like 4-5 times a day to make myself feel better. In between my ribs was buldging out soooo much and it was completely numb. I was getting like 3 hours of sleep a night because of the pain. Did you also have pain under your ribs? Our poor squished head little babies. I can imagine if it was hurting me like that what it must have felt like for him. And then add his sister kicking him in the face probably. Ugh.
