Guest guest
HI RNJEN YOU CAN CALL ME MJ BUT MY NAME IS MARY. I AM A RN ALSO. AND I WENT TO MY DOCTOR AND HE TO TRIED TO TALK ME A\OUT OF IT. JUST TODAY I TALKED WITH A NURSE ON MY JOB WHO WORKS AT ANOTHER HOSP. WITH AN RN WHO HAD IT DONE BY DR. R . IT IS A RISK AS YOU ARE AWARE TO JUST BE OVERWEIGHT. NOT ONLY ARE YOU AT RISK FOR EARLY DEATH DO TO BEING OVERWEIGHT, BUT HYPERTENSION, ELEVATED CHOL. TYPE 2 DIABETIC, STROKE, CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE, FRACTURE AND MANY MORE THINGS. THATS SCARY. LIFE IS ALREADY TO SHORT AND WE TAKE RISKS EVERYDAY ie WALKING OUT YOUR DOOR A BEING ATTACK, DRIVING YOUR CAR AND BEING HIT, RIDING A PLANE AND HAVING IT TAKING OVER OR CRASH. LIFE HAS MANY OF RISKS. IF KNOWING THAT I HAVE A CHANCE OF HAVING A BETTER LIFE BY HAVING THE MGB DONE THEN I WILL TAKE THAT CHANCE. MJ

Guest guest
I am in the process of starting my appeal because my ins. co. wanted me to stay within state (NJ) to have the surgery. Their pick of surgeon's called me today and went on and on about how much better the lap RNY is and went on to say some neg. things about MGB. Now being a nurse I felt I really researched surgeries and was 200% in favor of the MGB. Even now I still want it, but his words are in my head. I dont know what to think. I believe, Dr. R is a totally dedicated and very skilled surgeon. Because I can see from all the postings how much he is respected but I hate the fact that this doctor even said this stuff to me. Has anyone had people try to talk them out of it, and what happened? Thanks Jen
Guest guest
-- Jen, Would you be willing to share the negative things said about MGB? I am a pre-op. I am one of those who wants to know EVERYTHING. I bet it was just that Dr.'s sales pitch. Maybe if you would share with us, we could toss it around and re-convince you that WE ALL are doing the right thing. Thanks for the consideration.
