Guest guest
OK i ha-vent been on here in a while. But i just need to vent. My son , is now 15 months old. We get our 2ND Band next Friday April 14. I am happy that the insurance payed for it!!!! started his 1st Band in October, and from day 1 they said that he might need a 2ND band, I was ok with that. He got the band off exactly 4 months from the day he started it. We then had to wait for my insurance to go back into effect on March 1st. So from February 26 to April 14, no band....I am OK with the second band I am worried that he will fight, kick and scream when we put it on. He was WONDERFUL with the first one. He has gotten older and so much more independent. I am soooooo afraid. I pray to god that he is as good with this one. I am going to put Pictures up after typing this. Wish me luck. s Mommy DOC Band #1 10-26-05 to 2-26-06 DOC Band #2 04-14-
Guest guest
We've had quite a few older plagio babies. Hannah even wore 2 early on and then a 3rd much later. They usually do just fine. However, sometimes they do learn to take them off - but if it happens we'll help with ideas. > > OK i ha-vent been on here in a while. But i just need to vent. My > son , is now 15 months old. Guest guest
I will keep my fingers crossed that he'll do as good with the 2nd one as he did with the first one. Can you decorate it in his favorite cartoon or so. make him want to wear it? Let us know how fitting goes. Guest guest
Good luck. Hopefully he won't learn to take it off. We didn't let our son touch his band with his hands (he was 18 months when he graduated). When he'd touch it we'd say don't touch. He seemed to listen. I think we were just lucky. Guest guest
Thanks so much for your replies. I guess I still an unsure. I walked out of this thinking she looked good- and there was 0 discussion of a 2nd band- and now I am still left with "Did I do everything I can? Does she really look as good as she can look?" And I dont know the answer. Should I go back to Cranial Tech for another opinion- should I go to the same clinician or a new one? Or should I ask my pediatrician? The Ped. Neurosurgeon told us she "looks great" and we got great correction. Should I also see an orthotist? My husband thinks her head is getting rounder on its own- but I am thinking maybe just one side again is getting rounder (brachy). Can regression happen in 1.5 weeks or am I being paranoid??? (my daughter is on her back a lot when sleeping). Messenger with Voice. Make PC-to-Phone Calls to the US (and 30+ countries) for 2¢/min or less. Guest guest
Oh good, I'm glad to hear that hydrocephalus is not even a consideration. I agree with the other posters that being that he is growing faster than they expected that a 2nd band would not prolong the process. I also agree with them that he has probably gotten great correction and if you aren't totally happy with the shape then I'd continue with a 2nd. lisa > > > > > > Last Wednesday at our weekly appointment for adjustment it was > > brought > > > up that my son may be outgrowing his band quickly. Guest guest
Kris, I just picked up my son's second band yesterday and am so happy that I decided to go forward with another band. He is almost 17 months and I did not want to have any regrets of not doing everything that I could for correction. It is such a personal decision, but even if I don't get a tremendous amount of results I just had to do everything that I could. If the band is not bothering your son and it seems like you are getting quick results, I would go for it. You will make the right decision that is best for your son.
