Guest guest
Hello... I'm new to this diet and was just wondering if anyone knew if Applegate Farms hotdogs are legal. The ingredients read: beef, water, sodium lactate (salt from beets), sea salt, honey, toasted onion, spice extractives, and garlic powder. I gave one to my son tonight but now am having second thoughts as I am not 100% about all those ingredients. If those aren't ok, does anyone know of any legal hotdogs? Also, is it ok to freeze the yogurt? Thanks so much! Also, I'm not sure about other illegals like kelp or other fillers. This is what they wrote to me: To answer your question, yes, many of our products are gluten, casein, corn, sugar, and rice-free. Guest guest
many of those applegate farms might have other illegals in it. carageenan is a seaweed often in them, also garlic powders and onion powders often contain starches not disclosed. make sure you print the list of illegals from elaine's site www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info before assuming something to be legal. also check out the knowledgebase section for any comments on any of those ingredients. there is a wealth of info there. donna
Guest guest
Hi Allyson, > The ingredients read: beef, water, > sodium lactate (salt from beets), sea salt, honey, toasted onion, spice > extractives, and garlic powder. I gave one to my son tonight but now > am having second thoughts as I am not 100% about all those ingredients. I think you've hit the nail on the head. So many ingredients and so many places to run into SCD trouble. Is the honey 100%pure honey, not cut with corn syrup or other SCD illegals? Is it honey that is pasteurized and filtered? What are the spice extractives? Commercial garlic powder is illegal. Garlic when ground to a powder is hygroscopic (water loving). Anti-caking are added to prevent clumping. These are usually SCD illegal. We don't endorse them on the list. If people using them are not making the progress they feel they should be or are running into trouble we recommend removing them. > If those aren't ok, does anyone know of any legal hotdogs? Marilyn posted a legal hot dog recipe. I make it occasionally and it smells just like regular hot dogs. Some people have it made in large batches by local butchers. They supply the spices and the butcher supplies the meat. > Also, is it > ok to freeze the yogurt? It is okay to freeze the yogurt, but it will kill most (to all) of the bacteria. I do occasionally freeze it to make ice cream. Sheila, SCD 52 mos, 21 yrs UC mom of , SCD 37 mos
