The cobra is a much easier position and works the same parts of the body (back and abdominal regions). The cobra is GREAT for relieving tension, particularly in the lower back region. __________________________________________________

Watch out for Welch's tapes. I have seen one and it is for intermediate at best IMO. Make sure you find a tape where you can do the majority of the postrues. Give yourself nice wins instead of loses!!! Try to practice a little every day to make it part of your life. I promise you...you will not regret the time spent. Let me know how you do. Besides that, if I am up at 7:30 in the morning, it is Barney time - LOL. That's fine that most tapes are fairly short (although I'd like around 30 minutes or so) because I don't have 90 minutes at one time to spare until after the kids are in bed for the night...I'm almost too tired to read all these messages by that time - hehehe. Maybe I'll get two tapes and just do them one after the other.... Britt

Guest guest
> Britt... the Rodney Yee AM/PM yoga for beginners videos are each 20min in > duration. You might be able to fit that in. Thanks for the suggestion...I'll look in to it. If nothing else I can do two sessions when I can fit them in. I like to sweat though (I'm no glisten gal...I go for the gusto - LOL) Will I get a good workout from these? Britt

No, Britt, Yee's beginner tapes have very gentle postures. No sweating to these tapes lol! But he gives VERY good instruction and his beginner tapes are a good intro to Iyengar Yoga. He is highly regarded in the yoga community. Pam in CA __________________________________________________

Guest guest
I bought a Yoga tape supposedly ok for beginners, with Am and PM exercises. I'd tell you how it is, but considering I haven't so much as removed the cellophane... Catalina > Is anyone here into Yoga? Guest guest
For all you folks out there thinking about yoga - I would highly recommend a class. I went to one while I was pregnant - I know it's a funny image isn't it - especially if you remember I was a fat lady to start with then I was carrying twins! I looked ridiculous I'm sure - but that is beside the point. I loved the class! It felt wonderful. But I have since tried some tapes - I think its the same AM/PM one that has been mentioned before, and I just don't get much out of it - I'm either struggling to get into the right position, or I'm frustrated that I can't get there - with a live instructor (s)he can help you out and give you modified poses if your fat belly (like mine) just won't let you get to where you are supposed to be. If done right yoga is supposed to be a tranquil and uplifting exercise, and by doing the tapes alone at home they became frustrating and annoying instead. Just my two cents Sherlyn http://community.webshots.com/user/spudberry
