Guest guest
, That's great news. Keep careful records of calories, ratio, weight etc. so that you can make needed changes. 150 calories is a lot. You may need to increase somewhat as her weight drops. And, of course, you have a good vitamin and mineral supplement, right? Bill Falk wrote: > Maybe we are okay... She started chubby, and I truly thought she would drop some weight. The gain was a surprise! And, a week into lower calories, and now a day into a lower ratio, she is like she was a the beginning of the diet. Happy and perky. Must just feel better to her little body. > > Thanks for the help. I am such a novice. , 's mum

Guest guest
Now you will be changing calories by 25 or 50 to get it spot on. We have had good luck with Wholelife supplements from California. It is made especially for children on the ketogenic diet. It is a liquid form. Big drinks aren't good on the diet. Better to spread it out more. Hope things continue to improve. Bill Falk wrote: > A week, actually 8 days, into the calorie drop and she only dropped .2 of a pound. That little may have been a difference in clothing??? No, she does not have good supplements from what I am gleaning from all the posts. She is on a children's vitamin, Bugs Bunny Complete and a calcium supplement. When I went to get a magnesium supplement they were all far too big for a little one, so I must search elsewhere, as were the biotin and selenium. I had no idea it would be a problem, and went yesterday to get them. Have not yet exhausted local sources for lower dose capsules, and may end up ordering online, I guess. > > I keep a pretty complete daily log of food, ratio, calories, ketones and specific gravity, bowel movements and fluids, as well as seizure activity. > > Her ketones are almost always high now, except after a big drink. When we first began, I thought big ketones were the goal all the time, now I am findng that some children do better with midrange. > > Often I quote your " it is more art than science " statement. I definitely need to find magnesium and she needs to go on a good adult vitamin.

Guest guest
Thanks. I will check out Wholelife. Did some more looking in our area yesterday, all all the supplements had other things added to them... like yeast in the selenium, etc. Yes, now drops need to be gradual... then watching for height increases that may indicate the time for calorie increases. I can see this is not quite as easy as I had initially thought it to be. However, seizure control is such a blessing. Many thanks. , 's mum Bill Barber torontobarber@...> wrote: Now you will be changing calories by 25 or 50 to get it spot on. We have had good luck with Wholelife supplements from California.
