Guest guest
, We also have United Healthcare and were denied coverage for my son's DOC band. Just last week I downloaded one of the UH appeal letters off this site and modified it to fit my son and sent it to United Healthcare appeals. I haven't heard back from them yet, but I'm really hoping this gets me results. Is that basically the approach you took? (Downloading a letter and modifying it for your child?) Do you have any other tips that helped you win your appeal? Thanks, , Mom to , 8 months DOC band 10/06-? > > I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who posted appeal letters in > the file section. Guest guest
Hi stacy, my son's first docband was covered no problem. so when i got denied for authorization for second band, i was shocked. i called UHC and they told me it was the same doctor who reviewed it and approved it the first time who denied it the second time. the lady in care coord. told me the ref# for first band and to put it in my appeal letter. she too was shocked that this was not covered. anyway, i actually downloaded about three different letters (they all had pretty much same info). i basically cut and pasted the parts that fit my denial letter and i explained the chain of events thatled up to denial. also, i had my ped write a short letter explaining diagnosis and that it was a continuation of treatment from first band. with all of the research i put in my letter (cut and pasted from other letters) i dont see how they can deny you a second time. but i know they do. if they would have denied me again, i would have fought it. they dont expect you to fight it. my advice is to call at least once a week to check status of appeal. and write down everyone's name you talk to. good luck and let me know if you have any more questions. > > > > I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who posted appeal letters in > > the file section.
