Guest guest
Medication and Allergy List All of us are on a myriad of medications. If you were to have to go into the hospital for an emergency, would your family be able to tell the doctors what medications you are CURRENTLY on? Please take time today to do this .. make a list of the medications you are taking .. copy the name of the medication from the bottle.. DO NOT rely on your memory as to the correct spelling of the med. Write down not only the dosage amount but the time you usually take it as well. Example: Plaquenil 200 mg twice a day .. 7 a.m. & 7 p.m. Xanax 0.25 mg three times a day .. 7 a.m., 3 p.m., 8 p.m. After you have written your list of medications, add whatever things you are allergic to: drugs, foods, etc. At the top of the list, write your name, address, phone, main doctor and his phone number .. then type in " This list last updated on September whatever. After you have typed, handwritten, or computer generated your list, make several copies. Keep one in your purse or on your person at all times. Keep a copy on the front of your refrigerator in plain view. (I put mine in a zip lock bag on the front of the refrigerator so it doesn’t get soiled.) Keep ALL your medications in their original bottles in a large zip lock bag. Put a copy of your list of medications in the bag. The bag should be kept in the same place in your house so even the smallest child can answer the fireman when he asks, " Does your mommy take any pills? Can you show them to me? " People .. we take too many drugs that interact with other drugs. If we do not remember or cannot tell the emergency medical personnel what we are taking, you are putting your life in danger. Make it easier on yourself and your family in the event of an emergency. This is one way of taking control of your life, instead of your life taking control of you.
