What are the pros and cons? had a barium swallow test for his relux problems last week and it showed that his small bowel is malrotated. So they want to operate to rectify this and at the same time do a fundoplication for the reflux? Any experiences gratefully received. Thanks ine Dear ine, My daughter Carlie Jae received a fundoplacation four years ago. She was aspirating 24/7 and refusing to eat or drink. Her weight continued to drop and we were told that putting in a g-tube and fundoplacation would be the only way that Carlie Jae could continue to live. for Carlie Jae the surgery went well and she was home in about seven days and received home care to tend to her dressings. She gained weight immediately and began to slowly gain herself back. Surgery has it's risks and the g-tube site can become infected and there is always a possibility of Staff infection. But for my daughter it help-ed to stop the reflux. Do you live in New zealand? Are you confident about the hospital that you are taking your to? If you hgavce anymore questions please feel free to email me privately All the best to your Robyn mom of Carlie Jae 7 years, who was born with cerebral atrophy to her frontal and temporal lobes. Global dev delays, g-tube fed and cannot walk yet! . She has also cental nervous system irritability and intractable seizure disorder but mostly under control with the ketogenic diet and only one AED. Carlie Jae has been ketofed since march 2001 Gorgeous red curly hair and a smile that would melt eventhetoughestofheartsthetoughestofheartsthetough estofheartsthetoughestofheartsxxx
