Hi All!

Boy is it good to be POST-OP!!!

I told a fib in my post the morning of surgery....I thought I was first, but

our friend went first at 7:30. I went at 9:00 (or so). Here's the

skinny...pun intended lol!

Saw Dr. R. in his scrubs and with his briefcase right after 's

surgery. He assured me she did well and that I was next. Made a last potty

run and the guy forgot to bring me back. Everyone except Dr. R. was

assembled in the room and they were wondering where I was. The Anesth. guy

remembered that he'd had someone take me to the potty so he went looking for

me. lol

Surgery went well, I forgot to ask Dr. R. how long it took. I was in

recovery in no time. I think And back in my room.

I really didn't want company, so I sent Jan and on their way. I just

wanted sleep. I did pretty well until early evening and then the gas pain

started in pretty bad. The nurse gave me a shot. She told me that Dr. R.

had discontinued the pain pump. NOT. After my shot I felt better, until the

first time I tried to go potty. Dry heaves, but I made it! Second potty

trip was painful, but no drive heaves. Third potty trip, I couldn't even

take a step! I hurt so bad. Thankfully about that time Parsons and

Rexanne called me and both told me to demand the pump (or something

like that < >). Once I got the pump (around 10pm) I was much better. I

actually slept pretty well!

I was lucky, I had a private room.

The next morning I was up and to the potty with very little trouble. Dr.R.

came in and told me I could leave when I felt like it. A nurse had already

dropped off my discharge orders and assured me they were not kicking me out.

LOL.

Some of my Littermates came by and we went on a little stroll. I am totally

in awe of Sharon who was up and dressed and ready to go home before 8am!!

Unbelievable! Tonni was doing pretty well also and the three of us were

escorted by Sharon's hubby on our tour. We got out of bed and she

joined us. Theresa was not doing as well, and at the time we came by she was

sleeping. Krisitin was also in a lot of pain.

After the short stroll I went back to bed and awaited breakfast...chicken

broth (yuk), jello, juice, crackers. I had a few sips/bites and then dosed

off again.

Sometime during the night or in the day, I think called. Was that

you? If not, I remember the call, but not for sure who it was from. The

night before my phone had rung several times, but they left the lights off

and the phone too far to reach and I couldn't do anything. I could'nt turn

over to get the switch in the bed either once I realized it was there..too

painful. I do know my PCP from Fl called to see how I was. Sorry I missed

his call.

Well, my friends. I think this is going to be in two parts. I'm starting to

fade pretty quickly here and need to sleep a bit.

More later.

BTW, please excuse the typos. I'm not used to a laptop and to tell the

truth, I'm still a bit foggy. Also, I left my glasses in FL so I'm

half-blind to start with lol

HI CLAIRE,

You sweet little post -op you! It is so wonderful to see and

hear from you!!!! I am glad you are getting better every day! We sure missed

you!!! Did you say you had to demand a pump??? hmmmmmm I'll discuss that as

soon as I see him!!! I am not afraid of the surgery, its the gas afterwards

that always settles in my shoulders that scares me!!! Oh well I better leave

you alone you take care so you can help us preebies K? In my prayers along

Just want to say how good it is to see you back on the list --you

Hey Margie!

If anyone gains anything from my experience, I hope it is that they need to

ask for the pump (nice way of saying demand hee hee)! I wish I had asked for

it sooner.

I'm still having some pain on my left side. Dr. R. says it might be the

staple leaning against a nerve. OUCH! Hurts when I breath, stand up, lay

down, well just about all the time lol!

We did make it home about 9:30 or so last night. Slow ride home with many

stops, but we made it. I felt the best after we stopped at the Outlet mall

in St. Augustine and I walked for awhile. We also got a banana/strawberry

all fruit smoothy and it tasted wonderful and really perked me up! I

couldn't believe how little I drank of it!

Well, off to nap for a little while.
