Thanks Barb for the advice on the Bag Balm, I will go and pick some

up today. I was just wondering if any of you have tried prednisone

*just* for you skin problems and your results. I am not on it right

now and my doc wants to try it. I am a newbie at the drug stuff as I

have tried to treat naturally thus far. So any advice would be much

appreciated...I'm also really scared about the side effects.

Thank you so much, this group has been wonderful for me.

Two years ago I broke out in hives for 4 months straight...it was

terrible. The Dr. put me on prednisone and it took care of the hives,

but the side effects were pretty huge. I am not sure if I would take

steroids orally again JUST for hives, but boy that itching gets in

your head in a way pain just doesn't. I still break out and have

terrible hives and such, I just try to treat them other ways. I put

ice packs on the hives sometimes. They are so hot and fever filled

that sometimes they just calm down when I ice them.

Two years ago I broke out in hives and stayed that way for 10 months

straight. It was absolutely the worst! I had them everywhere (and I

mena everywhere!) I took everything imaginable. At one point I was

up to 18 pills per day - just for the hives not including my other

meds. My throat would swell shut weekly (several ER trips) and I

even had them in my stomach. Anyway, I eventually went to an

immunologist and he put me on Cyclosporin. This is some tough

stuff...but the hives went away within a month and *knock or the

proverbial wood* have never been back. Would I go back on

Cyclosporin? Tough question...the hives would have to be pretty bad

first. Believe me, in my experience, the Prednisone was " nothing "

compared! Hope you remain bump free.
