Guest guest
I am not much help with the other fat to use questions (we are pretty basic here with 's diet - cream and canola oil) or the fatty acid profile, but re the stool test - the one had done was called a fecal fat test, (there is another tech name, but can't think of it). Basically stools are checked for fat content. If there is more than an 'acceptable' fat content contained therein, it means that all the caloric fat is possibly not being metabolised/absorbed properly. This can lead to abnormal fat storage, ie - goes on the frame rather than being used as fuel. Whn fat makes up such a high proportion of caloric intake, this is obviously a problem, as not all calories allotted will be going to the 'right place' and malnourishment can therefore occur. One comment form the Docs at our hospital was that on the keto diet, they would expect to see a lot of fat content in the kiddies' stools - but as our dietician pointed out, this is not so - the caloric fat is calculated to provide just enough for energy needs and metabolism, meaning there should not be an 'excess' left over. If that makes sense? ----- Original Message ----- From: LAmet Having done this long intro; here is my first question to the list: I see some parents are doing a fat stool test, what is it? And how can this infleunce the diet?
