Hello my pancreatitis pals. I was discharged from the hospital today. I was in

the hospital for almost a week basically to get rehydrated and receive

pain/nausea medicine for my pain and nausea. My GI doctors told me that my

pancreas isn't working and they don't know why it's not working. They told me

that I have idiopathic pancreatitis. I am glad to be back home, but I'm still

weak to an extent. I guess I'm weak because I was basically bedridden while in

the hospital. My 7 year old son and 6 year old daughter were so happy to see me

that they both screamed and put their arms around me. Our illness has a big

effect on our families. My GI doctor wrote out orders for a visiting nurse to

come out to see me everyday just to keep an eye on me and help with the house

chores and children. The GI doctors think that I'm doing too much after I get

out of the hospital like cleaning my house, taking care of the children and

taking care of my husband. They told me that I need to take care of myself and

rest when I returned home. My husband can't really help because he has liver

disease and he is always fatigued. Thank you for the email that you posted on

our website. I always pray for you. Please keep my family and me in your

prayers.

Hi . I'm glad your're out of the hospital and at home with your hubby

and kids. As you said in your e-mail you are still weak. I know how it can

be with a husband and kids even though my kids are older than yours (13 and

16) I can still really wear myself out with them my husband and house chores

and errands and the list goes on and on .................. I love my

family dearly but I realize that having this disease has caused me to have

to cut back on my daily activities. It's so good that you are going to have

some help. Take advantage of it. I will keep you and your family in my

prayers. Take care.

Welcome home, - please, please - LAY LOW.

The damn dust in the house is not going to hurt anybody, and when you get

around to it, it won't mind having had to wait a few weeks. We lose our

nerve too quickly with dust. Just leave it alone. And " piles " are a good

thing, they're good places to stack other stuff that can wait too. Chill.

Use the nurses to look after you medically. Ask a neighbor to come in now

and again, or family. Have some friends drop off meals, and get the one-dish

freezer-to-table variety when you must cook. Kids love those as much if not

more anyway!

Keep your butt in a chair or in bed - where it belongs. I don't have the

strength to come over and open up a can of you-know-what girl. Sit still.

Love,

T

Dear ,

Now that you're home, and have been hugged and squeezed by

those young ones, take advantage of that home nurse situation

and rest, rest, rest! It must be so difficult with little ones to care

for and a husband with medical problems, too, but you've got to

look out for #1 first, and get rested and feeling better.

That's good that you've got someone to help you out, but nothing

more strenuous than make lists of what she can do to for you

and your family. If something isn't done quite right, who cares,

don't worry about it! Hopefully this will give you a well needed

break and chance for recuperation.

Take care,

With hope and prayers,

Heidi in SC

,

Good luck to you. I always listen to everyone say to me to take it easy and not

come into work full time, etc. after I've been in the hospital. I have a very

understanding workplace, which is great. Anyway, I never really listen and I

always end up regretting it. But that doesn't stop me from being a hypocrite and

trying to convince other people to take it easy! Actually, I did take it pretty

easy since the last time I was in the hospital and I was thankful for it later.

Relax as much as you can and I hope you're feel more energetic every day!

Marti - I don't know about anybody else but I have been getting what I think

are most if not all of your posts. I usually don't respond because I am not

familar with what you are asking about so can't put in even one cent when

you probably would prefer to have at least some information - oh, say, a

quarter's worth or more. I don't know if that hold for others on the list

but if you happen to ask a question I know or can make a good guess at I

will usually respond if someone else has not. TTFN,
