Guest guest
Dear Dr. , Thank you very much for the info regarding migraines; I appreciate it very much. I will do a little research on the meds that you mentioned, and then take it up with my doctor. I am currently on Neurontin, and recommend it, as it has been helpful to me on several levels; pain, mental acuity, anxiety... Also, your answer confirmed that which I was suspicious of, which is that the headaches are probably some kind of residual/rebound side effect of the narcotics; probably on top of a problem that previously existed, perhaps not, but I guess what really matters right now is addressing the headaches themselves, eh? I surely do appreciate your willingness to be so helpful to each/all of us, and I feel guilty for " taking advantage " of your experience and knowledge... but I am very grateful that you have been so willing to be so helpful and generous. Thank you very much, you are a good soul. Peace, Terry in KC << It's a real catch-22. Apparently both narcotics and the specific anti-migraine-medicines can cause rebound headaches which is actually an acceleration of the frequency and intensity of headaches. I specifically asked the neurologist today when do I actually take Imitrex or Zomig (the meds specifically for a migraine). I explained that I have average headaches from my oxycontin at least once every 1-2 days. She explained to take the rescue migraine headache medicines when it starts with the throbbing, one sided, sick,light-sensitive headaches only. She said I may wind up needing Neurontin which is an anti-seizure medicine to prevent headaches and that may actually help the pancreatitis pain as well. There's also a new medicine called topamax which is supposed to be phenomenonal with minimal side effects.-- >>
