Guest guest
Thanks so much for answering my post. I have a good friend on campus, but I never get to see her. I do talk to my paraprofessional...she knows me well...but those are about the only two. I think people just ask how I am and then I say okay and I do not think they really know what to say. I did have one parent come up to me and asked if I had lupus...How she found out, I have no clue...but it was okay...she just wanted to know something about lupus and I told her everything I knew...so at least I helped one person. I will not forget the sunscreen. thanks mojo
Guest guest
Good for you,Chippy.....and good for the parent who asked about Lupus.....most people don't really want to know about diseases they don't understand.........I think it makes them uncomfortabe to know that this is something that could very well happen to them! I saw something on a T.V. show the other day, and thought of you, and your problems with the flourescent lighting in your classroom......by the way, what have you been able to do about it.....if anything? Anyway I saw this when someone was redoing a ceiling to make it more attractive........they had flourescent lights, and what she did was take the plastic cover off the bottom of the light........spray it with adhesive........then cover it with a piece of attractivly patterned cloth .......I thought that `we of the Lupus persuasion.'.....could use the Rit U.V. stuff on the cloth before we glue it onto the cover of the flourescent light...... I have a flourescent light in my kitchen, and never turn it on.....I have a night light plugged in there just to see to get around.....and when I cook , I use the light on the stove vent. It would be nice to 'really ' see in my kitchen again. And by the way.......I have not been able to find the Rit U.V. protectant stuff . ...Sorry I can't thinK what it's called right now...Does anyone know where I can get it? Guest guest
thanks again for responding. The head maintenance guy with the school system was coiming around to the rooms and asking if everything was okay...cleaning wise...i told him my room was always clean but if he could do something about the flourescent fixtures it would be greatly appreciated. I told him I have lupus and the flourescent fixtures without the plastic covers are really harming me...causing lupus flares..I asked if there was any way for them to be recessed like in the other building and covered with a plastic grill...my reply was DO NOT HOLD YOUR BREATH LADY...end of conversation...I just do not think they understand what lupus it and what it can do to one...and what makes it flare...someone needs to educate these educators about this. chippy
