Guest guest
I am back from my 3 day vacation. We had a blast. The weather was perfect, though a little hot in the middle of the day. My hubby proposed to me, in front of all our friends, I am pleased he did not ask me in Court in front of 5000 people, I would have been so embarrassed I would have not been able to answer. Hehe We are going to be renew our vows in November on our 20th anniversary. He even bought me a BEAUTIFUL necklace as an engagement gift, it matches the silk noir I bought to make a medieval dress, a beautiful rich true blue. My hubby and I have talked about renewing our vows before, but we were planning on a quiet affair with a few friends. LOLOLOLOL It looks like it is going to be a very large affair with friends coming from all over the US. Friends are planning a feast (3-7 course meal) The brewers are already planning the mead and other alcohol they will be brewing. My dress should be something else given that my son and some of our other friends we talking about pearls, Battenberg lace, and other frillies. Honestly, I am getting a bit worried that this is spinning out of control. These are NOT moderate people. I had to rest a lot more this year than I have had to in the past and I swear I used a gallon of sunscreen. I have several friends who also merchant the event who offered me the shade of their pavilions to rest. In fact I was able to spend an afternoon getting my hand hennaed (flowers and curlier cues drawn on you with a dye that lasts about 2 weeks or so) We were able to see friends that we only see once a year at this event. It is amazing the support I have found in my Society friends. I had no camp responsibilities other that to heat the meals that I had precooked. Clean up was handled by others. The war was amazing. Watching 3000 guy beating on one another with sticks is always fun. We also got to see the archers shoot and they had Jousting for the first time (this is the most dangerous of the fighting). The coursing hounds, greyhounds, were amazing. In fact they sold barding (fancy clothes for your dog or horse) that tempted me. I am glad to be home though. My puppies were as happy to see me as I was to see them. Maybe next year I will teach a class on Standard Poodles in the middle ages and bring them with us. I missed my bathtub and my bed terribly. In fact as soon as I can get off work I am going to visit both. Hehe
