Guest guest
Hi all, I have scheduled an dental appointment for (4 years old) which will be her first since initiating the keto diet 3 months ago. Could you all fill me in on the questions to ask regarding carb content of the polishing paste, flouride treatments, etc? I am anticipating that will only need to have her teeth cleaned (ie. no cavity issues, but wondering if any of you have pointers on that as well for future reference). Any other helpful hints regarding the diet in this regard are very much appreciated. Sorry this request is so vague--not sure where to begin! Thanks! ne
Guest guest
ne, Let your dentist know about the keto diet, and for the polishing treatment you can take your own tooth polish to be safe. You could also ask about her getting the sealents as the diet can cause some distress to the teeth. amanda -- -mom to Stella, 5years old, started keto diet May 10th 2004 still waiting to be seizure free. Also on Lamictal, epam and Diamox. Anisa is almost 10 and a happy healthy girl.
Guest guest
Suzanne, Call the dentist's office ahead of time and talk to them about the diet. Our ped. dentist has been super supportive about the diet-- he's amazed at the difference. In fact, he asked if he could give two of his other patients my telephone number to talk about the diet and both are going to try it!! The only things they use on 's teeth are polish and fluoride foam, no carbs in either one. Be sure and ask, though. The best thing about going to the DENTIST is that they don't give the kids anything to eat in the " goodie " bags. had sealants put on her molars while she was on the diet--not because of the diet, but because it was time to do it. They have stayed in place very well because she does not eat things that are sugary or sticky. Dr. C says the diet is the best thing that could happen to a kid if you look at it only from a dentist's perspective--LOL. I'm sure 's visit will go well...
