Are these readings still happening Tracey? I think there is a later post from

you saying his ketones have now gone too high? I always check bhbs twice (like

one straight after another) if readings come out to be not quite as expected,

as I have found over the years that the home kit can give some dicey levels, and

always feel safer when I double (sometimes even triple) check.

Has he lost any weight to explain the v high bhbs? Burning body fat at the

same time as caloric fat in a highish ratio can send them over the top, and

sometimes the ratio needs lowering down until weight has stabilised again.

's bhb level on the home test kit varies from about 2.7 (morning) to

4.0-4.5 by late afternoon/night time, depending on his activity level, but

usually within these ranges.

Has the twitching stopped, have you changed anything?

Hi Tracey,

Er, not feeling overly confident I can answer this, certainly not with a

Dr heading - yikes - no thanks :) but I will have a go tomorrow - my messages

got away on me, and I got a bit snowed under, but hopefully will make better

inroads in the morning,

From: tflourie@...

If you read my last posting, you'll know we're having some seizure

*activity* which up til last week has been absent, at least by day.

Today was the

second time Skyler's face 'twitched.' After both episodes, I checked his

blood

ketones on the Medisense...they were 2.9 and 3.3 respectively. Last

week when

this happened, his ketones came back up to 5.something a few hours

later.

Is there *normal* fluctuations like that throughout a day? Care to

speculate on why the range would be so wide.

Our goal is for

Skyler's blood ketones to be at least in the high 5's using the home

meter...in the 6's on a venous draw. Because of his size (140 lbs) and

age (17), he

needs to have these higher levels for seizure control.

He'd been doing SO well ....it has been devastating to see

these

twitches...

Thanks.

Tracey
