Guest guest
Hi I think any cream has some carbs. We use 35 % cream ( the highest % of fat in cream we can get here in Canada)and there is 0,5 g of carbs per tbsp there. We do not use heavy cream very often though.ph does not mind to eat butter so I add mor veggies instead carbs that cream takes. Hope it helps Natasha
Guest guest
Go to the website to find food values at http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search/ Cream has a fair amount of carbs. Guest guest
Bill, Lately, the only thing we could think of was that about the same time we saw an increase in seizures was the time we changed creams. We have used thesame brand for years and have been fine. All of the sudden, these seizures started happening daily and we thought it might be the probiotics or the cream. We stopped the probiotics and the seizures have slowed down but not completely. Now, I'm going back to the old cream. All of this has happened since the constipation issues in July. We just can't get him back on track. Its sooooooooo frustrating. You would think after 3 years on this diet, the fine tuning would be over. Not so. Thanks for your help
Guest guest
I am using 3.3 gm carb per 100 gm of 35% cream. I think that is pretty constant with most heavy whipping cream. This would give approximately 0.5 gm per tablespoon. Unfortunately, the current labelling laws would permit the manufacturer to put either 0 or 1 gm carb per tablespoon. This is totally unacceptable for people using the ketogenic diet. You will have to call the manufacturer to get the correct values and even then you have to make sure that you are given the correct information. The label on my cream is the same as yours. It says 1 gm carb per 15 ml. If you see seizures after making a change like that, it is certainly very suspect as being a possible cause. Guest guest
, We had the same problem. I called the manufacturer of the cream we used and they actually got back to me with the exact numbers, to several decimal points. If you use Purity, by any chance, let me know and I'll give you the numbers. Otherwise, I would contact the manufacturers. The #s were WAY off from the ones on the meal planner. When we switched keto centers, our new center wanted to do meal plans for us for accuracy. I gave them my numbers on the cream and it was exactly what their planner had. Our dietician told us that the planner they use is much more accurate than the one we bought from Hopkins. I think the Hopkins one is just really outdated- companies have changed the formulas of the foods over the years and so we had ratios all over the board. When our keto center started doing meal plans, seizure control noticeably improved. I hope this helps! , mom to Langan, 2 yrs old and keto kid 11/03 to 9/7/04 but keto kid at heart forever!
