Guest guest
Hi all! We are in our third week of the diet. We are seeing inconsistent results nearly daily so far! We did have a good run of sz count cut in half, then Jack got a cold. The cold has improved, but it has leveled off and he is not " well " . Still sneezing, coughing, and stuffy. We are taking him to the pedi. tomorrow. I know we've talked about illness affecting the diet, but can a persistent cold do the same? I guess I just need some encouragement. Realistically, I KNOW it is SOOOOO early in this marathon and that I can't let myself be discouraged so soon. I've been reading the posts and I know a lot of you didn't have real improvement for months. Does the fact that he was improving daily until the cold struck bode well for us typically? I think I remember reading that there is no " honeymoon " period on the diet, so logically it seems that once the cold is resolved we could see some improvement. We have done no " tweaking " with the dietician yet and we did come thru Hopkins, so I know we are in excellent hands to say the least! Sorry for the ramble, but if this is how I am writing - imagine what is going on in my head right now! ha ha! Thanks for anything you have to share. I can't tell you how grateful I am just to have a safe place to rant a bit. leigh
Guest guest
Any illness can affect the diet efficacy and seizure control. Most of the time for my child increased seizures are my first hint of illness, however minor. Hang in there a bit longer. Do you have keto friendly cold meds? Diabetic Tussin works for the cough, there is also something called s 5 Action Cough/Cold or something like that which we've used w/ no problem. I can look up the exact name if you want. Generally speaking, lots of seizure kids avoid Benadryl, some find it a trigger, FYI. Yes, the fact that he was improving bodes well, the hardest part is being patient. You are in good hands here and at Hopkins. Barb Swoyer, Jake's mom colds/encouragement! > > > Hi all! > We are in our third week of the diet. We are seeing inconsistent > results nearly daily so far!
