I found that I was still hungry even on the Yucca ..

just like with the prednisone ..

and the yucca also made me hold water like the prednisone ..

but supposedly it is supposed to be better on your liver because it is

not a chemical.

I dont know ..

I did research on it .. but there isnt a whole lot out there.

As far as keeping the pain away .. I did not see a difference between

the two (prednisone and yucca).. both worked on the arthritis pain.

I still got a bit moody (just like when I am on prednisone) when the

yucca dose was high enough to keep the pain at bay.

Even though it is a more "natural" way of providing your body with a

"steroid" dose.. you still have a lot of the symptoms because natural

or not .. when you take it in, yucca is still making your body react to

a stimulant.. the chemical make up of your blood and body are still

going to be affected by the sabonin in the yucca.

As far as the round face .. that is a typical side effect of

prednisone. Prednisone causes the body to lose muscle mass unless you

are constantly exercising. It also causes "fat pads" to develop along

the jaw line and across the top of the shoulders (chipmunk cheeks and a

hunch back look). There is even a name for this when a person presents

with the symptoms .. Cushing's syndrome.

For me .. I found I did better physically on the prednisone because I

take it mainly to keep my lungs from filling up with fluid. The yucca

just didnt accomplish that for me.

Again .. it would depend on what you are using it for ..

if you are using it simply for pain relief for arthritis like pain,

then give the Yucca a try .. just remember, it is not a " take a pill,

no pain " type of medication.. it is something that takes a bit to work

... sometimes a day or two..

if you are using it to help with asthma as well as with the lupus, the

yucca just doesnt work .. you will need the prednisone.

Again .. talk with your doctor .. whether you want to switch on your

own or not .. he needs to know what you are taking.
