Guest guest
Becky, thank you for your kind words. I am sorry to hear about your new kidney problems. So far, I've been spared that! As for Nikki's wedding, we've got everything pretty well in order and have made all the necessary decisions for decorations and such. I, too, believe that all of my health issues stem from having the genetic tendency for autoimmune diseases. My internal med doc said, "I cannot possibly believe that your chronic pancreatitis is not autoimmune in nature. If it walks like a duck, and it quacks like a duck, then it must be a duck. You have a VERY strong genetic tendency for autoimmune diseases in your family." (he also treats my sis and knows about Nikki's autoimmune diseases and he'll be Nikki's doc as soon as they move back to this area). He and I discussed whether the treatment for the CP would be any different if we were 100% sure it was autoimmune and I told him that from what I read the only thing to do differently would be to put me back on more prednisone. I do have to admit that I had less panc attacks when I was on 20 mg of prednisone, which the docs found odd because prednisone can actually cause an attack of acute panc. However, prednisone wreaks havoc on your body as we all know. It was making my diabetes worse, the fluid retention impossible to control, and other things as well. so, the doc and I both agreed that at this point neither one of us is willing to up my prednisone again because even though it might lessen the panc attacks slightly, it would cause so many other problems in my body that might be more damaging that the cp. It's all quite frustrating, but I still feel very blessed for many, many reasons! Take care,
