Guest guest
Nells, You got the prayers, Honey. Now, about bi-polar meds I have had some experience with my eldest son, . What worked best to level his moods was Lithium. It's not the fashionable choice of med now days, but all the more modern choices made my son worse. Lithium requires regular blood tests to monitor liver and kidney function, but if used properly with an antidepressant like Zoloft or Prozac, can work wonders to keep bi-polar kids on a more even keel. My 15 year old is taking Adderol time release for ADD, a low dose of Prozac for depression, and a 1 mg. dose of Risperdol to help with impulse control issues. His problems stem from a stroke he suffered at birth. He was a drug baby, three months early, born with left brain stroke and respiratory distress syndrome. He came to be my boy when he was just over two years old. He is one of my miracle kids. LOL Risperdol is working very well for him, after some major crises and recent traumas. It is a great relief to be able to hug my child again without fear of being treated like a monster. Nice change for us in my house. Hope this info is helpful. Good luck with your mom, and to the family members who are having to deal with mental illness. Loving hugs, MM
Guest guest
Dear Friends, I pray for all here daily. I am so overwhelmed with a stressful job, Lupus, thyroid and worrying about my Mom etc.. I just wanted to let all of you know that I will be going to see my Mom on friday 3-26. I will be traveling 3,000 miles. Please keep me in your prayers for a safe trip. Keep my Mom in your prayers also. She has so many medical problems. On top of hashimoto's thyroid disease, diabetes, Lupus, high blood pressure, esophagus stuff, rheumatoid arthritis my uncle just told me that 2 of his 4 daughters have bipolar disorder. Any info I can give him will be appreciated. I know this group has a wealth of info. on all medical conditions. If any here are on meds for bipolar disorder let me know which ones are working. They need direction because they are in puerto rico. Blessings, Hugs, Nells
