Guest guest
White rice does not have the same protein in it that we casually refer to as glutin. But to totally confuse everyone, there is something called " glutinous rice " which is actually GF but refers to the " stickiness " or texture of the rice and not the protein within the rice. Here's a web link: http://www.pechsiam.com/glutinous_sweetrice.htm And here's the Wikipedia entry that mentions that the rice is GF: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glutinous_rice If you have a reaction to some rice that you've consumed, there two possibilities - either you are allergic or sensitive to all rices (they have a different protein) or you reacted to some other ingredient cooked with the rice. Its quite common to blend other grains or non-GF ingredients in rice dishes. I bought a rice blend at Trader Joe's and had to take it back because it contained rye! By the way, if you can eat rice, there are many, many varieties, each with different flavors, textures, cooking times, etc. It might be nice to try some different varieties. You can find a lot more options by shopping at TJs, oriental markets, the ethnic aisles of your supermarkets or health food stores. Hope this helped!
