Guest guest
This one is a weird one. We went to the beach today (at a lake so we are not talking about salty ocean air) and put both of Bobby's hearing aids in a small change compartment in the car. The battery compartment was open in both of them to turn off the aids. The car was hot, but not terribly, the windows were open. Anyway, the only thing in the compartment besides the aids was some change...pennies, and dimes. A bunch of them. And we shut the compartment so it probably got hot in there. When I went to take them out tonight and put them in the dryer, I found that one of the batteries has corroded and there is a rust kind of film around the inside of the battery case. I threw out that battery, and I will figure out how to get the door off so I can clean it, the battery didn't have any sign of explosion, but I figured it was safer just to replace it anyway. I figured it was a faulty battery. Then I took out the other one and it had the exact same thing...the battery had corroded and that acid stuff was all over the inside of the battery housing. So does anyone know if storing the aids next to pennies or metal (change) could do that? Because it obviously wasn't a faulty battery two times. Is the hearing aid OK? (Assuming I do a hearing check on it and it sounds OK.) Thanks. Trish
