Guest guest
quick question to anyone with an opinion: My most recent batch of goat milk yogurt is VERY nice. very little " musty " after taste compared to previous ones. I am wondering if it has anything to do with accidentally leaving it on for an extra 3 hours, or if this is possibly a seasonal thing? everything else i did was the same. thanks Karla, mom to jake, scd 4 months _________________________________________________________________ Take advantage of powerful junk e-mail filters built on patented Microsoft® SmartScreen Technology. http://join.msn.com/?pgmarket=en-ca&page=byoa/prem&xAPID=1994&DI=1034&SU=http://\ hotmail.com/enca&HL=Market_MSNIS_Taglines Start enjoying all the benefits of MSN® Premium right now and get the first two months FREE*. Guest guest
Speaking of " musty " goat yogurt, I just made it for the first time and gagged when I tasted it. Poor turned green when I plopped the 1/8 teaspoon full in her mouth. Is it supposed to taste this bad? Guest guest
I found the same thing, I don't know if it is supposed to be that way or not. This time, though, it tastes really good, better than the cow milk yogurt I used to make, with minimal after taste. I was wondering if I did something different ( like leave it longer ) or if it might be seasonal ( what they are eating, or something else) ? It may be a seasonal thing, especially if the goats are getting different feed, if they are munching on fresh green grass after the winter, if they've had baby goats etc. Have you tried a different brand, or could the milk be from a different breed of goat? Different types of goats have very different tasting milk. I've heard Nubian goats give great milk. A friend who breeds goats says that Saanen and Alpines are also good. Was the goat milk a brand name or locally bought? Do you know what kind of goat it was from? Some types give a " goatier " taste than others. Sometimes it says the kind of goat on the label or you can ask farmer if bought from someone locally. Guest guest
Hi Sheila, thanks for answering my question.I asked at the health food store where I always get it and they had no idea. It is the same brand but does not indicate what breed of goats are used, I assume it may be several breeds as it seems to be a large operation. At any rate we will enjoy it while it lasts, maybe it will be long enough to aclimate his tastes.
