Guest guest
Dear debzdebznz: I had a Sphinteroplasty in 1996. I was an open surgery in the OR (surgery). The opened my abdomen much as they did then I had my gall bladder removed. The open the duodenum (3rd part of the stomach that empties into the small intestine) and open the pancreatic duct by cutting it open and sewing the edges so that the duct will stay open and be able to drain again!! I had an nasal- gastric tube and pancreatitis after this surgery---so...it was very painful. I had a good surgeon that helped control the pain with a t titrated PCA. I was in the hospital for about 21 days. I went home on TPN to allow the area to rest and help before I could eat.. I hope is is the information you are looking for. The surgery is called A Transduoedenal Sphinteroplasty of the Pancreatic Duct gail debzdebznz wrote: > Hiya > > has anyone had this surgery? The GI did and ERCP and the duct was totally colsted again. TheN I had A Whipple which also failed and proceeded to the pancreatectomy and islet cell transpan, I has 251,000 islets and do not have to take insulin. I do have sone stomach emptying problems do the all the surgery I had in the area, which causes me pain. Bot generall I can eat the do not had to take insulin. Guest guest
Thanks Gail Is it common that the spincteroplasty only fixes the pain for 5 6 months. I see that it isnt that common. I dont really want to have a resection at this stage .... They dont do islet cell transplants here in NZ Cheers Debs- -- In pancreatitis@y..., gail a miller wrote: > dezedebznz, > The splinteroplashy worked for bout 5-6 months then the symptions return.
