Wow, Autumn..you've got such a lot to juggle there! Between the PCOS,

smoking, and wanting to get past that 30-lb. loss, you've got a lot on your

plate

(no pun intended!).

I've never smoked, but I've always heard smoking suppresses a person's

appetite. And I've never known anyone who didn't gain some weight when they

gave up

smoking. It's really like being between a rock and a hard place, isn't it?

Wish I had an easy answer to a complicated problem. How would it be to attack

the smoking and weight problems separately, at different times, rather than

all at once?

Wishing lots of health and good luck as you struggle with this. I know it

must be hard.

Ugh, I'm getting digusted with myself. It seems like 30lbs is all I can

ever lose at a time. I know I've gained since Thanksgiving, I just

refuse to check at the moment. I know I have a little bit of a valid

excuse (the cutting way back on smokes), but still, this is not what I

wanted to happen. I estimate I have gained 5-7 lbs. I just *feel* it in

my clothes. So what do I do yesterday and today? Smoked more. Yup. I

was down to 5/day, (from 45+/day) and yesterday I had 11. Today I've had

8 so far. I'm trying the straws, gum, water, trying to take my mind off

of it, making calls, taking a walk, bathing the dog, etc. etc. It's

going to be a doubly-rough battle doing this at the same time as trying

to lose weight and deal with the PCOS. Oh well, I guess I'll persevere,

and then I'll have my two worst health risks eliminated, right? What's

worse-being fat or reeking of smoke? I guess being fat *and* reeking of

smoke! Oy!! Pray for your poor, anxious cheerleader, whose shine is off

her pom-poms. Or something like that.

At least I got a bit of good news today. Hubby's boss gave him a $700

bonus for his work on a recent project so we have a bit more trip money

than we thought we would. :)

Hugs,

Autumn :)

Hi Autumn... I am sorry to hear that you are struggling around the smoke issue.

It can be really hard, but the important thing is that you are acknowledging the

fact that both are health issues and you are combating both at the same time.

You are doing it! Just look at the decrease in amount from 45+ to 8 a day that

is a great achievement. Look hear as I write to you what do I do I light up and

start smoking. What a hypocrite! ha-ha...

Autumn,

Don't be so hard on yourself. Trying to stop the smokes and lose pounds at

the same time is an incredibly hard thing to do. Give yourself the credit due

for making such an attempt! You have more courage than most.

30 pounds is a lot to lose and you will lose more, even if you have a set back.

The holidays are so so hard on all of us trying to lose.

You are doing great, give yourself a pat on the back.

Autumn I am sorry to hear you are struggling with the smoking still.

Have you thought about talking to your doctor telling him what's

going on and how you are trying to loose weight and stop smoking. I

know there is a med to help you to stop smoking can only be gotten

thru prescription thou. I don't know much about it except that is is

out there. I am now at 30 pounds down too and at times it seems like

I have been at this forever. Well I have been up and down my whole

life but have never stayed with it this long and the right way at

that. At times I think this is taking forever. But don't give up

sweetie we can do this!! You can do this!!! I am going to joining

you soon on the stoping smoking too!!
