We also eat out more than most. We have had to cut back drastically

due to not just my disease, but our finances. I was raised that

eating out was a symbol of success, plus my mother pretty much

discouraged me from learning how to cook. I was taught that if I

ate our food when it wasn't " given " to me, that I was bad. This

created all kinds of emotional issues around food. Eating out felt

good, cooking and eating in felt bad. Having to relearn all of this

has been stressful, draining, and frustrating.

I don't know if that counts as a lifestyle that leads to eating out,

but it affects my choices directly. The worst part of this for me

has been that now when I eat out, I feel bad. I feel guilty making

the wait staff work so hard and feeling like I am an annoyance. I

feel bad when the cashier at 's has trouble figuring out how to

order a burger with no bun. I hate it when they roll their eyes or

sigh deeply or look at me like I have two heads. This has led to me

feeling bad whenever I eat, in or out.

I appreciate everyone on this list. I think that food can be a

volatile issue, just like religion or politics. Everyone here does

a great job of supporting and teaching. This site makes it so much

easier!
