Hey Debra, is it just a little bit (I know this is gross) the maybe a

mouthful or less??

I have a hernia and Reflux and that happens to me, has when I had a full

stomach and bent over. I think it might have happened a few times in my

sleep, but I try not to eat anything that would upset my stomach close to be

time or If I know I am going o have trouble I take a zantac.

Now throws up in his sleep. I mean alot! Most of the time he would

wake up, several times he slept though it and would scare me to death.

He has had his (throat) tonsils removed a few years ago and he would

actually stop breathing they were so big!

I havent done this since I moved but I use to have a few bricks under the

head of my head, it does help.

Either way you vomit you still need to talk to your Dr. You can aspirate

on very little.

take care

Hi Pam:

Thank you for responding. I have been living with this for at least five years

now. When I wake up in the morning; sometimes I will find a little bit of

vomit, on my night shirt or in my hair.

I guess, like you stated, it really depends on what you eat during the day and

especially from dinner to bed time. " It depends on what I eat, how much I

vomit in my sleep. "

I also know that it can cause you to have a pain in your chest. I thought I was

having a heart attack. I was sweating with pain. did it ever hurt, I couldn't

move. I ended up going to the hospital by ambulance.

After they did a series of tests. It was my " Hiatus Hernia " (spelled wrong ??

). It was triggered by me straining it. All I could think of was, that I

washed my dog that day.

I do take this seriously, it is scary !! I snore really really loud !!! Also

sometimes I will wake myself up out of breath because I will be vomiting in my

sleep. It is something that I do take prescription for and that my doctors do

know about.

My appointment with my Neurologist for the first time is August 2. I am hoping

he will be able to help me more on this. I am getting nervous about the

appointment as well.

Thank you Pam. Take care & God Bless !!

Debra,

These were all things I had trouble with before

decompression surgery last month. I didn't even

attribute them to Chiari until I stopped having these

problems post-op.

I used to " choke on the air " sometimes too - start

coughing/choking while just sitting there not

eating...very embarrassing.

A couple of times my throat seemed to close off while

I had liquid in my mouth. It didn't feel too great

when it came out of my nose. :(

Hi :

Thank you for responding to my posting !! It is nice to see a positive outcome

with surgery being posted. I hope when I get surgery all my symptoms will go

away or be some what better.

I liked what you said, " Mistaken for a passing car " LOL LOL !!! I think I

was mistaken for a chain saw !!! LOL LOL LOL !!

For the group, yes on the vomiting. I take that very seriously and I am seeing

doctors for this problem. Thank you !! Take Care and God Bless !!

Hi Debra,

A hiatus hernia occurs when the upper part of the stomach, which is joined

to the oesophagus (gullet), moves up into the chest through the hole (called

a hiatus) in the diaphragm. It is common and occurs in about 10 per cent of

people.

It is most commonly found in overweight, middle-aged women. I don't think

it has anything to do with chiari.

Warmest regards,

Sharon
