Guest guest
Hi Group, I just got back from my appointment with Dr. Kuavar in NYC and have arranged to have my first V-Beam treatment on May 1. Dr. Kuavar was very familiar with the red, swollen nose syndrome as a by-product of rosacea and said that V-Beam was very successful in treating it. She said she thought I would need three treatments, one per month. I asked her about nose growth and she said that was rare and that there was no indication of skin-thickening or growth. She seemed to think the swelling is what is making my nose look larger (particularly the tip) and that the swelling would go down after the treatments. She seemed very confident that I could get my old nose back through V-Beam, but could recommend a good plastic surgeon if I remained unhappy with the tip of my nose. She also said that I would need to maintain and have treatments occasionally in the future. The cost per treatment is $400 (not bad for NY). She said the procedure is very quick, almost painless, and very safe and that she regularly treats newborns with it. She said there might be some bruising and swelling afterward, but that it wouldn't last more than a few days, if that. Unlike some of the other centers around here, Dr. Kuavar does the treatments herself. She said the treatments shouldn't interfere in my life at all; just wear a good sunscreen, but otherwise go about your daily business as usual. I'm cautiously optimistic and a little nervous. But after living with this for three months, I am anxious to get on with my life and stop obsessing. I have a feeling that there are a lot of people in New York and LA having this exact procedure for our problem, so why shouldn't we? I will keep you posted on my treatments and findings. Good luck to all. Heidi
